Name of TDM Region/Country?

I've been reading the TDM universe wiki, and surprisingly, all the cities are named, but no name has been

given to the empire of all those cities, Is it known? If not, let's define it.

We've always just called it The Empire.

If it has a name, perhaps it should be something in Latin.

If it was Latin, then that would say it was an italian origin or Italian controlled empire. I've always thought given

the accents of the characters that it was more anglo saxon based. On top of that, the language of all the written works

that have surfaced in FM's are english, so wouldn't it stand to reason it be english based?

 

I've something in mind n it would be useful if it was named.

Bridgeport is in the far west of the empire. The capital is east & for all we know they probably do speak mideval Latin if not Italian there.

It's name is Latin, so maybe the empire's is too. Or maybe like Rome, the empire is just named after the city. But the city's name is Sancta Civitas, the Holy City. The Holy Empire anybody?

Edit. I have my own history scripted out where BP and SC are rival cities & defender's of the faith and speak different languages though. But my vision in those details isn't canon.

Edit2. Well another thing. You could argue it's more like the Carolignian Empire, which was named after the family dynasty. So look for the name of the Emperor, and call the Empire with his family name + -ian Empire. In my old timeline I made, the Emperor's family is Ventus, so in my timeline you might call it the Ventian Empire (not to be confused with Venetian), or the Venti (lol). Again, not canon.

I don't really think we should give The Empire a proper name.

In Thief "The City" have its charm, it sounds more archetypal that way. In the same way The Forest, The Mountain or The Ocean sounds better in fairy tale than in semi historical story. You shouldn't be too specific if you don't have to.

Fair enough, I'll follow precedent and use Empire for now, though it really should have a name.

 

Every house/ castle/ church/ town/ city in the game has names, so the region should have one too. I say make up a list, make a poll n let's decide.
