So, drewb50. Finally sat down and listened to your stuff. You've got some cool things going on here for sure. ;)

 

ambient01 - Nothing to say really. Great quality and great mood. One thing: is it meant to loop? If not, you might wanna fade it down more at the end.

 

ambient02 - Some cool sounds here. The beat might work ingame.

 

mechanists - Great. Many great sfx in this one. You should upload them as sepparate files as well. (The machines, the steam blows etc)

 

outside - Again, great. :) Gotta agree with sax tho, I think the crickets are a tad too loud. Might wanna drop the volume on those.

 

undead - I have no idea if we can do the whole change-music-when-spotted thing. Ishtivan or Sparhawk has to answer that. Great track otherwise. (Where do you get all your amazing soundeffects from? ;) )

 

the ambient remix - I like this remix better. The drums fit better into everything. This one brings me to another thing...

 

What should we do with non-ingame music? Should we upload it to cvs as ambients, or should I just hang on to them until we need them for cinematics/menus whatever?

 

Also drewb50, you should send a PM to Sparhawk and ask for a dotProject account. That's where we keep the sound design documents. (Also read the "Master Plan" sticky thread if you haven't already)

Um, anything else.. Hm.. oh yeah.. weve got this cvs thing NOW LETS MOVE ON

Thanks for listening. :)

 

I sent a PM to sparhawk yesterday morning. Just waiting to hear back.

 

All five of the ambients were meant to loop. I could put them up both ways though, if you want.

 

Ambient02 -- I meant for the beat to be an alert state for that loop, but I could smooth it out a bit and blend it into the loop.

 

Mechanists -- will do.

 

Outside -- will drop the volume on the crickets.

 

Undead -- mostly Acid loop CD's.

 

Should I post these all here?

I guess I need the dotProject account to access the sound design docs in order to find out what's been handled and what still needs to be taken care of.

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

      Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
