Workbench?

Just curious whether this term is culturally widespread. If you were looking for someone's workbench, what would you assume that meant?

@Springs, its a place where I build and repair things in a workshop (mechanical(motorcycle stuff) or electrical(motorcycle or computer)) or build room (mass imagine of PCs and Mac's etc.

my dad's got one in his workshop, but its permanent, like a big wooden shelf, covered in boxes of nails, nuts, bolts, tools, and a half finished model wooden boat.

It's something I miss having.

 

A beat-up table where you build and repair stuff. Lots of boxes full of little nails and nuts and bolts, usually backed by a pegboard of tools. A large and small table vise.

Two words in Dutch for the workbench is, litteraly translated, worktable (werktafel) and workcouch (werkbank).

In germany we translate this with Werkbank, too. It's a place where you build and repair thinks, like the others already mentioned. (And yeah, it's workcouch literally translated )

I agree, I would imagine some kind of table, where you work on stuff. Might be repairing or carpentry or other stuff like that. Some people might also know the term from Skyrim, where you can improve your armor.

In that case my large computer desk I build TDM stuff while sat in front off, is my current workbench :-)
