Just wondering but... would it be possible to implement some Steam achievements? I could actually think of a few potential cool achievements (like... first "ghosted" mission, first mission without having killed anyone, first mission with maximum loot, complete 10 missions, play 100 hours, stuff like that. I think the motivation of achieving such... achievements is not to be neglected. I know people who played GTA 5 for hundred hours plus, just to reach a 100% in achievements). No idea how easy/difficult that would be to code though, of course.

And, since it's probably not possible to get an achievement for releasing a mission, you could at least get something for spending many hours in DR ;)

Our Stats are progressing nicely -

  • 1110 unique visitors in 15 hours - need to compare this to other GL games to get some kind of context
  • 473 yes votes - see above
  • 35% of the way to the top 100 - Im not sure is that means once we get to 100 we then feature in Steam's Top 100 games..?

I am wondering how I/we will upload new missions, Im guessing either as (free) DLC or Updates. I think the DLC option sounds closer to the mechanism that we have atm?

I hope you don't mind that I used your trailer vid, that said clearly some people didn't get the obvious use of humor at the beginning of the vid though...

Steam workshop sounds ideal for this. People can subscribe to free workshop items, which can be anything from mods to maps to ingame items or anything else. Anyone can submit workshop content.. so it would ease the burden on maintainers of the Steam release and let users access content faster.

See here for an example https://steamcommunity.com/app/346110/workshop/

Official content could be released as DLC if it's significant enough

The music and the pacing, fitting the gameplay footage was great in this one:

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

- 2 July 1844 letter to James Russell Lowell from Edgar Allan Poe.

For fuck's sake, we're not seriously considering adding a video from 2005, that still has the Doom 3 hands in it??

I agree that it's a poor showing compared to now. That said, we could probably post a video of an elderly alcoholic vagrant defecating on a sidewalk

with the rate we are approaching Greenlight approval now.

Please visit TDM's IndieDB site and help promote the mod:

(Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)

You cannot receive PMs. Could you please be so kind and check your mailbox if it is full (or maybe you switched off the function)?

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).

Well then, it's been about a week since I released my first FM and I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised by its reception. I had expected half as much interest in my short little FM as I received and even less when it came to positive feedback, but I am glad that the aspects of my mission that I put the most heart into were often the most appreciated. It was also delightful to read plenty of honest criticism and helpful feedback, as I've already been given plenty of useful pointers on improving my brushwork, level design, and gameplay difficulty.
I've gotten back into the groove of chipping away at my reading and game list, as well as the endless FM catalogue here, but I may very well try my hand at the 15th anniversary contest should it materialize. That is assuming my eyes are ready for a few more months of Dark Radiant's bright interface while burning the midnight oil, of course!
