Should barbarians have different language/accent?

Not sure if we've come to a conclusion on this, and if we have apologies, but I realized earlier today that while the Order has their own manner of speaking, the average grunt has his and so on so forth, I don't think I've ever seen any sort of difference between barbarians and common folk.

Also, side topic, are there other languages in the setting?

I wouldn't mind foreigners speaking other languages being stolen from right alongside people who speak your own, eh?

I like to record difficult stealth games, and right now you wonderful people are the only ones delivering on that front.

I recall discussions on this topic, but I can't think of a conclusion. The only thing I remember is that we wanted to avoid sounding too much like the pagans in the thief series. My personal opinion is that an Irish/Gaelic/Scottish accent would fit quite well as a contrast to the Roman sound of the Builder Church. As the Barbarians are organised in tribes (if I remember correctly), it would also make sense, that the accents are mixed up a bit, with each tribe having a slightly different one.

Regarding other languages, it would make sense to have them, but it is only viable as long as it is not necessary to understand what they are saying (at least until subtitles can be included). Especailly for the moors, it would make sense that they speak another language.

What about something like a slightly more modernized version of Middle English?

On a side note, it'd be interesting to explore some Asian-inspired languages and cultures at some point, as we seem to have a dearth of those atm.

I would not mind a far off "other hemisphere" being hinted at as we further explore barbarians.

Alternatively, Indian inspired?

I was thinking a native American accent for my campaign.

I have some Asian FM concepts too, the best one being the story of Goemon, medieval Japan's greatest thief.

Wish they could all make themselves. They're all good concepts but I only have so much time.

Edit. The only thing I have an opinion about is they should not sound like Thief pagans. I never really bought into the sneaksie style. Ok for Thief I guess, but not great to repeat it. It should sound like some legit pagan tribal group.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
