So shines a good deed in a weary world

Can I get a little help here? As some of you may be aware, I am a caregiver for my mother who has Alzheimers. I have a really great neighbor who has helped me out several times. She is 90 years old, but still continues to do a lot of community work. She has watched over my little monster three times, giving me the opportunity to run to the store, or to the pharmacist. The last time she watched over my mother I came home to find her sitting on my mothers bed, holding her hand. She has a chance to have her roof replaced for free, providing enough people vote for her. If you could find the time, please go to https://noroofleftbehind.com/program...minationDetail and vote for "A roof for Mom" Her name is Aileen. BTW, she is 90 years old but for her 90th birthday she took a Segway tour of a local graveyard, and a pub crawl on a self-powered peddle driven wagon, so she probably has a few good years left in her, providing her roof doesn't cave in on her!

Thanks to any who would help out with votes.

Voted.

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

Thanks Biya! It's official, she has won a new roof! Thanks everyone!!! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help. Aileen wants me to pass on her thanks for the votes, along with a hug for you all, not sure she gets the whole internet forum thing. But there you go, a warm friendly hug from my great neighbor and friend, in digital form! Thanks again!

I don't see how this makes sense, are you saying that that community is helping?

I went to the page and could not find anything, and I am sorry but it has so many links or buttons that go nowhere it reminds me of a phishing site. Sorry about tour neighbor and your mom though.

I must admit that i never quite understand your posts. Phishing site? Links that go nowhere?? Tour neighbour??!? Maybe take a bit more time before sending your posts, and try to correct some spelling errors, then your posts may become a bit more understandable. TTLG is no phishing site BTW. Far from it...

Yeah, i was thinking of the Through The Looking Glass Thief fan site - this site and that site are thief fan sites and so that was the first thing I thought. I type TTLG, in my search engine so TTLG was to me Through The Looking Glass, sorry about that.

Still though I could not find a place on the included link to vote. I clicked on many buttons and they did not go anywhere, and I did not say this was a phishing site I said "I am sorry but it has so many links or buttons that go nowhere it reminds me of a phishing site"

Tour neighbou

Yeah that was not spell checked. Sometimes I type so fast that I get ahead of myself, most forums have a decent spell check but sometimes I have to google it. BTW I have an 8th grade education - spent about 1or 2 weeks in high school, I was in group homes from 14 - 18 and I was a bit of an idiot back then so no high school education can result in some spelling errors sorry about that.

i wanted to help and vote (if I did not care about helping someone out I would have ignored the thread after reading it) but I could not find a vote link anywhere. donate and other links I think worked, but no stand out VOTE HERE. So I am sorry for the misunderstanding.

No worries. I'm still a bit puzzled though. TTLG is the Through The Looking Glass site. And it's absolutely alright, no phishing site, and i can't find any dead links either.

Update!

New roof is in progress! Thanks to you all! The roofers have done a complete tear-off of her old roof and re-sheathed and put down new self-sealing membrane, should have the job finished tomorrow. Thanks again!

Sorry bobrpggamer, I have had my hands a little full lately, that link was closed due to the contest being over, but thanks for trying!

No worries bobrpggamer! I had posted in Commchat on ttlg, and then thought I would post here, thus the rather cryptic thread title. I don't do Facebook or any of that other hashtaggie stuff, but I wanted to reach out for help anywhere I could find it. It was my mistake, not yours, I assumed that because I first learned of TDM from TTLG that everyone here started at TTLG. Looking at the dates of your posts, the voting was already over at that point, and the link I posted may have re-directed to someplace weird. Thanks again to everyone, the roof is finished, and it looks great! They completely stripped the old sheathing, and replaced it with proper materials.(her old sheathing was only 1/4", which is not even up to code) It looks great, and it would not have happened without everyone's help here, so pat yourselves on the back! It may seem like nothing, but you helped a complete stranger in a really big way and little things like that make this world a better place, which is a big deal in my book. Cheers!

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
