Game Crash and Screen Compression

The Dark One

Recommended Posts

So I was playing a mission when TDM decided to shoot itself and lock up. After resetting my computer, I found that the screen was smaller: Now I have two black bars on both sides, with the actual screen compressed between them. I tried playing with the screen size and aspect ratio, but all I can seem to do is make the graphics sharper or force TDM into a window instead of the full screen. Is there some ideal to get the screen back to where it was? Or should I just go with this, since the game seems to run a little better.

Essentially, I've gone from this: http://imgur.com/a/mV6Hr

to this: http://imgur.com/a/a43xn

Apologies for the poor quality, I'm mainly trying to show screen compression. First one is wider, second one is narrower.

EDIT: Current settings for the second pic.

4:3 for aspect ratio.

1024X786 for screen size

Because in mystery novels, the first suspect is almost certainly never the murderer. No matter how much unmovable evidence there is, it will all be smashed in pieces by the wrath of the remaining number of pages of the story.

Hmm, that's weird. What are the system specs including monitor and resolution?

What's r_mode set to if you check in the console? r_customHeight and r_customWidth?

Also, are any other openGL games or just games in general, also having this issue?

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

Um, resolution is 1920x1080 Not sure what you want for moniter specs

r_Width is at1600 and r_Height is set to 900.

And I have no idea, TDM is really the only game I have on here. I've had this "freezing and forcing me to reset" issue before, but I've never had it do this.

Do you mean r_mode?

Yes

Thanks! It's still zoomed in a bit, but I can probably work around that. Thanks!

Finally got my PC back from the shop after my SSD got corrupted a week ago and damaged my motherboard. Scary stuff, but thank goodness it happened right after two months of FM development instead of wiping all my work before I could release it. New SSD, repaired Motherboard and BIOS, and we're ready to start working on my second FM with some added version control in the cloud just to be safe!

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.
