Yes that's expected.

 

The latest build now allows MSAA and Soft Shadows together as long as r_useFBO = 0.

 

There are some minor visual issues but the major bugs are fixed.

Since this is a public beta, is there any reason not to move this to the public forums? That way we don't have to keep modifying people's permissions so they can read this thread.

This "whole forum" ( TDM Mission Beta Testing )
should be public.

If you don't want people to see a beta then use PM's instead.

No need to encumber mods to keep granting access here and there.

Yes, use SMP and fbo resolution at the same time.

Lastest beta still has the problem (walk around in close quarters and see)

I check after the end of download and there's no problem with CRC.....and after some times it found new 17 files.

The disk health is good.

Maybe TDM itself modifies these 17 files? (they're always the same ones).

Yes, you are right.

 

Starting from 2.06, all whitelisted video files and ogg files are stored inside pk4 without compression.

This is absolutely necessary for FFmpeg video playback and improves loading times for ogg sounds.

 

Since there are three completely independent ways of delivering pk4 files into player's installation (one of them is not even controlled by the TDM team), the TDM game itself has to make sure that pk4 archives are packed properly.

Whenever TDM engine opens a pk4 file, it checks if compression is good, and repacks all the pk4 which don't adhere to the new TDM rules (i.e. which contain compressed ogg/video file).

Every time you launch TDM, it usually repacks all sound/video pk4 and the pk4 of the installed FM (if it was not done before).

 

Unfortunately, this change is quite hard for tdm_update, since no one ever thought about changing compression level without touching data.

The new version of tdm_package would create full pk4 packages already with new compression rules applied.

However, the beta package is still created with the old tdm_package version, which simply compresses everything. Obviously, your local pk4 files become different from server ones after you launch TDM at least once. After that tdm_update thinks those pk4 are wrong and downloads them again.

We are currently waiting for taaaki to update tdm_package on the packaging machine. After that, I hope, tdm_update won't try to download those 700 MB again and again.

I got an email from him this morning, he will be doing this shortly. It might be worth pausing the update untill he does so we dont max out server bandwidth...

Alright guys, I've skimmed the thread and I haven't seen this so...

 

On 64-bit Debian, when I try to launch the game, either 32 or 64-bit version, I get a black screen when the main menu should show. At the top of the screen, it just says "Invalid GUI:guis/mainmenu.gui. Prior to this, TDM 2.05 ran fine. I wonder if I am just missing some libs. I don't see anything about it in the console output, which follows.

Yeah, there's an ongoing issue with our decompression of video assets to support FFMPEG.

The installation is from an update from 2.05. And the problem manifested in Windows too, so it is indeed damaged game files. Something must have gone wrong during the update process... The update was kicked off in Linux and appeared to complete successfully without error. Here's the md5sums of the TDM directory. I guess I'll try a fresh install next.

I think that's the async sound thread...

 

So about the FBO resolution and SMP - that should be in next beta.

For me, attempting to save on any mission causes the mission to bomb out to a full-screen console (TDM itself is still running but progress is lost).

 

The above happens on the 64-bit Linux version. I tried to see if it would happen in the 32-bit version, but the 32-bit version (linux as well) fails to load any missions!
