Female Voice Acting

Sorry for the necropost, but I wanted to thank everyone for the small ceremony. I wasn't scared off by all of you -- more so just didn't check back after hearing that remote recordings weren't being used. Actually just found this in a google search.

But for those who were interested, here's my resume:

And you can hear more samples and see links to actual work I've done here:

The best known work I've done within the Thief Community is in Frobber's "Keeper of the Prophecies" series. Outside the Thief Community, I'd say it's the role of "Wildcat" in the UT2004 mod Alien Swarm. And I do some local work for corporate training videos/presentations and the like.

I have a few more things in the works, which will hopefully eventually be released. I am a lifelong gamer -- started with Kings Quest on the PC Jr. back in the '80's -- and will likely never stop enjoying it! I used to play AD&D as a teen, so I'm also a big fan of the Neverwinter Nights series and related RPG games.

I look forward to playing this game when it's ready!

Well, I think we could really do with some talented female voice work - locally or not. :)

I am not sure how far our voice work has become, I think everything is still in the "placeholder" stage - which would be a shame after almost two years have passed. Plus, I don't think we are in the position to turn down any offers.

But it is not my decision ;)

Btw, lizz, have you had a chance to try out Thief's Den:

Sorry, it doesn't contain any females, unless you count the cat :)

Well, you don't go recording a full voice set until the AI states are full finalized. ;) At any rate, I'm using local actors to fill the roles because it's easier for me to control the quality and to direct them to get what I need from the characters.

Haven't tried Thief's Den, but I saw the announcement about it, so I will be sure to check it out.

I completely understand about the local actor/actress thing. It can be very time consuming to record lines, send them out, get direction, re-record, send out, get direction, etc. No problem here!

But someone on the team said they were interested in a link to my work for appreciative purposes only, so I posted it, even if it WAS two years later. I'd love to hear if anyone is familiar with some of my work. If not, check it out! Some good times to be had.

Liz (just one z)

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
