The power of ReShade

Yes, it seems now that I'm testing!

WS4, starting area (city door)

TDM -> 51 FPS

TDM + ReShade Hook Only -> 48 FPS

TDM + ReShade Hook + FXAA+LumaSharpen=45 FPS

So a 10% performance hit with the basic effects applied.

Depth Buffer reconstruction seems working fine too!

Yes, for photographic sake :D (or cinematic cutscenes rendered in-game).

Still, it's a good way to test the depth buffer access/reconstruction for the Ambient Occlusion.

Is that depth of field effect for screenshots only? Because I don't understand why you would want it during gameplay.

It can be used in game play like Syrim and can be tweaked to be much less intrusive too. So it's a matter of personal taste. That's the best part of the New Reshade. You can experiment and tweak as much as you want and every single effect can be restored to default independently. And yes for cut scenes as well as many other effects like Chromatic Aberration, kaleidoscope etc. For some reason the DOF makes TDM Look like a Toy World and I love it. :P

Eye Adaptation works pretty well also which is something I was hoping for in TDM for a long time. I tweaked it so the effect takes longer and also toned it down by a big margin so it's more subtle. At this point my game looks totally different than original. It really shows this game can go much further in terms of aesthetic effects and doesn't really need much to get to that point.

I just discovered what "Reshade" is and I want to try it out for TDM as well. So I am sorry for putting out that old thread now. However there are many different filters available. Do you guys, who already seem to have experience, know which ones I should try? Do you have before / after screenshots from your current TDM Reshades maybe, to show some of the effects? Thank you in advance - I am really interested in seeing this and trying out :)

EDIT: btw for me it doesn't work at all in TDM (I don't know what shader I need to select - dirx9? opengl?) When I start the game I only get a black screen and Reshade reporting there were some errors

You must select OpenGL of course and generate an "opengl32.dll" file to put inside the TDM folder.

But now TDM has a (very) good SSAO, so no need of ReShade for that.

Ah okay, it creates weird effects ingame including nearly black screens with OpenGL - can't even revert without Alt-F4ing the game. Guess you're right - better leave Reshade for other games than Darkmod :) Thank you anyways!

Finally got my PC back from the shop after my SSD got corrupted a week ago and damaged my motherboard. Scary stuff, but thank goodness it happened right after two months of FM development instead of wiping all my work before I could release it. New SSD, repaired Motherboard and BIOS, and we're ready to start working on my second FM with some added version control in the cloud just to be safe!

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.
