Popular Post some1stoleit Posted February 19, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted February 19, 2019 (edited) Cleaning Up the Neighborhoodby some1stoleit, bikerdude Brief Description: A small-medium sized assassination mission, taking place in a bar and casino environment with streets surrounding the bar. Story: Crime is out of control in my neighbourhood, when thugs attacked my wife I decided I can no longer stand by idly. Unable to rely on the corruptible city watch and the aloof Builders, I must take matters into my own hands. My first target is a bar called the Scoundrel’s Rest which is not far from my home. It’s owned by a man named Godfrey and considered neutral ground to the various criminal factions inhabiting the city district. There is no doubt its presence attracts criminals towards my neighbourhood, contributing to the infestation of crime. Infiltrating the bar not only creates the opportunity to kill Godfrey and shut it down for good but also allows me to find information about the rest of criminal groups that inhabit my neighbourhood.I gave my thieving days when I met my wife, but for her sake I must take up the profession once more and prowl in the shadows again. Notes/Tips:Your lock picks are noticeably old, so you can’t rely on them to get you past every door. Examine the environment and keep an eye out for keys on pockets. If you see a pipe outside, chances are you can climb up it.On Rusty and Practiced difficulty settings there's a map available for the bar’s ground level and the street surrounding it.It should be possible to ghost the every area in the mission. A small amount of loot however may be difficult or impossible to acquire without knockouts. There are a few hidden optional objectives you can discover. Screenshots Download Mirrors: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rbiashq1c1k56ns/Cleaning%20Up%20the%20Neighbourhood%20v1.0.zip?dl=0https://mega.nz/#!bMtgiSra!Y1KXGovfYfdtG1xxRkmPYndLxgq7wMNVr8oENnS2Qxg FAQ: I dislike when I get stuck on an FM and have to leave the game to scroll through forums to find out what to do. I think the mission should be straightforward enough to beat without answers, but I will provide a FAQ if it’s needed. Just be sure to give a good try working it out yourself before reading this. How do I enter Godfrey’s Bedroom? Hint: It’s impossible to enter through the front door; there is another way to enter the bedroom. Solution: You can enter his room through the west side of the streets, look up and you’ll see his bedroom window, climb up through there. How do I enter Godfrey’s Office? Hint: There are two ways to get into his office, one requires entering the bedroom first, the other is hidden in plain sight. Solution: The first way is to find the office key in one of the draws in Godfrey’s Bedroom. The second way is to pickpocket the second floor guard whose key secretly opens Godfrey’s office. Where is the information on the city’s gangs? Hint: Godfrey has hidden the information in a place that he doesn’t allow anyone else to enter, or at least enter without his presence in it. Solution: The information is a ledger which is in Godfrey’s Office behind a secret door; the door can be activated by pulling a lever in Godfrey’s desk. Optional Objectives How do I discover the first optional objective (Pagan)? The first optional objective is to eliminate the pagan fugitive Godfrey is harbouring. Simply read Godfrey or the Pagan’s journal. How do I discover the second optional objective (Servant)? The second optional objective involves a servant in the basement, check the servant’s room for a diary, it is opposite the basement bathroom. How do I complete the second optional objective? In Godfrey’s office there is one note you can pick up and put in your inventory, simply drop this note in the servant’s room. How do I discover the third optional objective (Crows)? The third optional objective involves the various crow’s nests in the rooftops of the north west area of the map (the canals), you can climb up there using pipes or climbing on the rooftops and using the rope. Simply loot one of the nests and the objective will trigger. Where are 5 _______ I need for the third optional objective? Locations 1 and 2: Location 3 Location 4 Location 5 Thanks: I’ve found the TDM community very welcoming and helpful as a new member and would like to thank several people.Bikerdude, for allowing me to collobarate with him and showing me a different way to build maps from scratch in Dark Radiant, as well as many other mapping techniques.Resources:Springheel, for his Modules and his retroactive permission to use New Job street segments.Amadeus, for doing some proofreading of the briefing and readables.Obsttorte, for his objective checking script used for one of the optional objectives.Rsoul, for creating new internal version of architecture models.Beta Testers:Amadeus, Cambridge Spy, Abusimplea, Shadow, Boiler’s_hiss, nbohr1more, Springheel, JudithPeople who helped Answer my Questions:Destined, JackFarmerSpecial thanks to Sotha and Springheel whose video tutorial series give me the guidance and confidence to start using Dark Radiant.I apologise if I missed anyone, if I missed you please do contact me and I’ll credit you appropriately. About the Development: Initially this was a solo developed mission made by myself, upon some beta testing I agreed to make the mission collaboration with Bikerdude, with the intention to learn good mapping practices from the collaboration. The mission was redesigning using the same layout as the original but using Springheel’s modules instead of my very simple brushwork, and expanded in scope to include a more detailed street, a canal, a sewer and a rooftop segments. Bikerdude’s use of springheel modules and custom skins is mostly responsible for the beautiful visuals, with my contribution being the layout of areas and the writing. Known Issues:None at the moment. Edited February 19, 2019 by some1stoleit 19 Quote

kin Posted February 24, 2019 Report Posted February 24, 2019 (edited) Great mission thanks,I have to note a bug that I found accidentally:I killed Godfrey without opening his room door. I smacked the sword on the door to wake him up and by leaning on the door made my self visible to him. This way he tried to attack me but having the door between us kept him at a safe distance so I could kill him with some safe well placed sword thrusts.Mission complete Edited February 24, 2019 by kin 1 Quote

joebarnin Posted March 4, 2019 Report Posted March 4, 2019 Great mission! I accomplished the main objective right away, but the loot and optional objectives kept me busy. Good street environment around the bar. Good stories within it. Thanks! 1 Quote
Bienie Posted March 5, 2019 Report Posted March 5, 2019 (edited) Ok I finally played through it tonight. Great mission! The assassination part was not too challenging, but like joebarnin said there was LOTS to do aside from that. Very enjoyable!I took about 2 hours to finish it, with 3001 loot, a stealth score of 0 and one water arrow used, the bar was impossible to loot without alerting the card players. Similarly the it was impossible to loot the footlocker next to the fireplace in the the barracks without alerting the card playing guards, since they went on full alert when I stole their coins I decided to skip both.I particularly loved how you rewarded avid explorers with the side mission with the thieving crows! I was just fooling around trying to break the mission by climbing to places I wasn't supposed to go (and I was able to a couple of times) and I stumble upon a crows nest with a brooch in it, and suddenly a wide smile spread across my face. I liked the tiny loft with the guy who hated the crows, and the doctor who was complaining about the tavern, though a little piece of loot for my efforts would have been appreciated hehe. The inside of the Scoundrel's Rest was well designed and provided some pretty engaging gameplay, without being too hard or easy. The streets around it felt very natural and they felt pretty unique, it was only the starting part in the sewers that looked a little too much like The Elixir, though I quite liked the connection to the inn with the curved stairs. All in all, amazing work! I can't wait to see where the story goes next, what other bad guys need an arrow to the face? NeonsStyle Posted March 13, 2019 Report Posted March 13, 2019 (edited) Problem: Getting into Godfreys bedroom The pipe you use to climb up to the window on the west side, on the wall opposite the window, is too close to the timber work andevery time I try to climb along it to make the final jump across to the pipe by the window, I fall off because of the timber workabove it and also the shutter is blocking you as well. So I can't get in there. I found another way in, by jumping, but Ihad to die many many times. I think the difficulty here of the parkour could've been toned down and removed the problemof bumping into building parts. Some problems I found: At the back canal, near the back of the boat, if you jump in the water and stay just under it but near the surface, a wierdtexture is overlayed on the screen blocking everything. When you enter the back door near the canal, the FPS was fineoutside, but immediately after closing the door it dropped from 60/130 fps down to 20 fps. Especially in the gambling den. Seems some visportals is probably not working well inside. All in all, a really enjoyable mission. Really liked the look of the place, and it's design. The gameplay was really good asidefrom what I already mentioned. Fun mission, thanks. Tarhiel Posted March 24, 2019 Report Posted March 24, 2019 (edited) Hi, Does somebody knows where to put ledger into spy´s office? I tried to leave it on the bed, stool, on the carpet, on the closet or near the spot where I found his diary, nothing seems to work and game doesn´t register me leaving it there. Am i doing something wrong? Edited March 24, 2019 by Tarhiel Quote

Am i doing something wrong? You're not supposed to put the ledger in the spy's room, you need it for yourself. You have to put the Dead Drop Correspondence in the spy's room. some1stoleit Posted March 24, 2019 Author Report Posted March 24, 2019 Glad to see people are enjoying the mission for the most part! Great mission! Thanks I appreciate that you liked the main story and all the other small stories around the map. I was inspired by the TDM FM Ulysses, whose unique protagonist I found very refreshing, especially in the way it made a lethal playstyle actually feel natural. I do recall needing a quicksave or two to get the jump right but I don't recall the jump being too many attempts to pass. I'll also see about the other issues too. 1 Quote

You have to put the Dead Drop Correspondence in the spy's room. Thanks! I would never thought that´s the proper item, because in his diary he mentions he would like to lay his hands on a ledger, so I assumed the ledger it´s the correct item.I haven´t been able to find 2 out of 3 perches, but that doesn´t bug me as much as this did Quote
