Metro games

Thanks Carnage. I'd gladly use cheats but I'm playing on PS4 and I've not found any. It's a closed system with no file management other than backing up gamesaves to a flash drive. No way of tinkering with a cfg file or anything like that.

I'm fairly sure I played 2033 on survival mode because it read to me as if it were easier and the name 'spartan' even sounds harder! But I wondered about that after re-reading so I played Last Light on Spartan. I couldn't really tell the difference - but then different games or even the same played again would have a different feel so might not be able to tell. I couldn't really check what style I played later. I mean, I think you can change the difficulty from normal to hardcore (I played normal) but style - couldn't find it anywhere.

So many games are so very close to being GREAT, even perfect, but certain things spoil them. In Fallout 4 (the best game I ever played) it was the repetitive dialogue that really irritated.

I hope I don't put off anyone else playing these Metro games, but be prepared for some frustration unless you play on the PC with cheats. Several times I had to reload an entire Chapter which felt a bit like replaying an entire Thief mission because the single gamesave is determined by the game itself which took no cognizance of your health or ammo or how close to death you might be. I sometimes anticipated that and, after I had spent some time (and used up filters and/or ammo) finding the way through, I reloaded the checkpoint deliberately before the game saved the next one and left me gasping and helpless!

Now discovered my Fallout 4 DLC needs fairly advanced gamesaves to access them! And I wiped all my gamesaves when I had to make disk room for Kingdom Come and other games! Never mind, there'll be incentive to play to reach them. I started yesterday. The freedom to play in so many different ways is refreshing quite frankly. :)

Whoops, forgot that you're playing on PS4.

Yeah Spartan isn't the best name for it. But supposedly you'll find more resources (ammo, filters, etc.) If I recall correctly, it even says that it is for players who prefer story above 'challenge'.

Still haven't played Fallout 4 or Kingdom Come. They are on my list, but first have to invest in a new computer. Then I'll have to lock myself up for a few months to play all the games I haven't been able to play the last few years ;).

Finally got Exodus so I'm playing 2033 and last light through again first. Same old head-scratching because I forgot most of the quirks. Currently I'm stuck in the library in Moscow. I got through a hole in a wall into a small room. Here is where I got stuck for AGES last time, but this time I remembered you have to shoot something through a half-open doorway. The other thing I recall I've not reached yet: it's something totally non-obvious like shooting a chandelier to smash down a door. However, where I'm stuck is another door. The guy leading you tells you to do something but that is not captured in the checkpoint. So I don't know what I'm supposed to do but I'm guessing it's to do with opening that door. He just lounges against the door while I do all the work!  Died 20 or 30 times from lack of filters. I've gone round and round but I can't find anything. Key? Am I supposed to go back through that hole in the wall? I can't. I've tried jumping upright and jumping crouched but can't get through.

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

      Beta test(er) tip:
Test your mission at least once with all lights on. This can be done using notarget in console. Maybe just quickly fly around with noclip.
Also test all lights which are off by default (enable all lights via script?). Mission testers will miss a lot of light bugs, because they take out lights with water arrows etc. and don't turn on lights so they don't spot light leaks etc. I've seen this now in some recent new missions after they're released.

Personal reminder for me to actually get back to TDM and all the missions I missed.

What is actually grammatically correct when it happens in the future? “Paul Atreides is an idiot” or ‘Paul Atreides was an idiot’? or ‘Paul Atreides will be an idiot’? The latter would at least fit in with the whole psychic and providence stuff!
