It ment to be picked up into inventory and Hide contents used as a key on the heads. Also, is this save/load crash an actual crash, or is loading screen just freeze when you click it and the progress bar is stuck in one place for a long time? About the shovel, I used it exactly as planned, but sometimes I had to crawl around a lot on the coffins to get the heads being highlighted. Maybe their area could be increased? And yes, the crash was a hard crash, like back to desktop with the message TDM stopped working. BTW, is there a way to make the gamma not change the desktop brightness? SuaveSteve Posted March 23, 2020 Report Posted March 23, 2020 I see the version on the download page is 4. What sort of updates were made? Quote
blaa Posted September 20, 2020 Report Posted September 20, 2020 (edited) EDIT: Found it, did not even think about interacting that way there when I went past it first. Where is the cellar entrance? All the stairways I found just end in shallow water with dead ends and one pipe that leads me to the kitchen? Feel like I´ve been to places I shouldn´t even be yet but just can´t find that entrance Edited September 20, 2020 by blaa Quote
Azaran Posted March 26, 2021 Report Posted March 26, 2021 So I'm stuck, trying to find the sealed section. Spoiler I'm in a dangerous area I accessed by removing some floorboards, but can't find anything there. I located a vent, but I can't open it with the crowbar. I can jump down to the central cloister area overlooking the maze, but again, nothing there Quote
ate0ate Posted March 26, 2021 Report Posted March 26, 2021 Spoiler There's two different columns of vents stretching the entire vertical span of the level. Both are between the saunas and bathrooms on opposite sides of the map. The one column can be open with the crowbar, the other cannot, so try finding the other sauna/bathroom area on the opposite side of the manor. There are other ways, but they require more searching about. Quote
Azaran Posted March 26, 2021 Report Posted March 26, 2021 Hmm, no luck there. Spoiler I skimmed through the video walkthrough for hints. I found a cellar key in the marshes, but the actual cellar door won't highlight. What do I need to do before I can open it? Quote
ate0ate Posted March 26, 2021 Report Posted March 26, 2021 Did you find out the fate of the witch? Spoiler You have to find the witch's corpse, well, skeleton really and the note she left nearby. Its on the sealed floor, which is what I had thought you were looking for. After that you should get an objective about heading to the cellar. Sorry about that. Quote
duzenko Posted December 22, 2021 Report Posted December 22, 2021 How does it end? Did he get reunited with the family objective complete? Quote
Enirambus Posted February 21, 2023 Report Posted February 21, 2023 This is a terrific mission! I've been a long time thief player and recently started playing TDM. I know I'm years late to the game, but wanted you to know this still brings joy to players/fans. Now that I've competed it (on easy) I'll have to go though again and find more Easter eggs/loot. So much fun.... Quote
AluminumHaste Posted May 4, 2023 Report Posted May 4, 2023 Just getting around to playing this, I know I'm really late. But, right at the start, is the player supposed to get stuck under water? I jumped in the water and swam to the bottom to see what's down there, but I can't swim back up, I'm blocked by the vegetation. And invulnerable horses in the water below the main entrance? Quote I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.
ERH+ Posted May 7, 2023 Author Report Posted May 7, 2023 The water have a forcefield that drags you down, but iirc you should be capable to force your way back to the surface. It is a dangerous swamp after all, there should be a lot more holes like this one around. Horses are animated models without any ai's properties - for saving the game from computing stationary creature. Quote
Amadeus Posted May 7, 2023 Report Posted May 7, 2023 yeah, the style, the atmosphere, the exploration... this FM is definitely a horror classic 2 Quote FMs: A Good Neighbor, Eye on the Prize Co-FMs: Seeking Lady Leicester, Written in Stone, The Painter's Wife
Geek Sheikh Posted July 2, 2024 Report Posted July 2, 2024 Pro: Haven't been terrified to this extent by any game (TDM and beyond) in a very long time. The swamp was positively bone-chilling! The fog (limited draw distance?); the visceral yet empty ambience; the drop-dead silence in some places; the sheer magnitude of the keep surrounded by the fog; the threat of something jumping out at any point; the atmosphere external to the castle; scaling the failed lift; parkouring into the keep and then the note with the dagger pierced through it. I stopped playing the game at one point because my anxiety went through the roof! Had to pick it up soon after because I was addicted to explore more. Would love: If the unsettling atmosphere was maintained throughout this level. Think the ambient music, which I have heard so many times before, broke the immersion for me as it quickly became associated with other missions, which this mission clearly sets itself apart from. I'm a less-is-more kind of chap so keep that ambience music out and maintain the jingling sounds of those ghosts, the constant dripping of water and resonating silence in! Make me squirm! Overall, a masterclass of horror. Massive fan of low draw distance and serendipity which the two go together like hand and glove. Any game that tries to replicate the opening of Bioshock 1 gets an A* from me! Do continue the unsettling atmosphere and leave out the ambient music -- immerse me in your world! 2 Quote

ERH+ Posted July 9, 2024 Author Report Posted July 9, 2024 Glad you liked it! The thing with associacions is that everyone will have different - same thing one person will consider as best part, the other will struggle to stomach. Quote
grodenglaive Posted August 28, 2024 Report Posted August 28, 2024 I agree that was a creepy one. I played this one in VR and found it extra unsettling - it sort of stuck in my head. I even had a dream I was there; maybe because I did a lot of wandering around during my first run through, plus the added immersion of VR. It seemed I was there a long time and thought I had hit a game-breaking bug. In reality, I had just missed something out in the bog (I forget now what it was). It was a relief to finally finish the game. Quote
