GOG Giveaway of something or other, probably wallpaper. Edit: It's concept art (375 MB), cover art (626 MB), posters (1.26 GB), screenshots (756 MB), gang graffiti (22 MB), steelbook art (37 MB), and wallpaper (716 MB):

Raytracing and DLSS 2.0 support at launch (I assume it's good for AMD RDNA2 raytracing, and we'll have to see about Nvidia DLSS 3.0):

You can climb buildings... in some scenarios (press 'C' to pay respects):

Free upgrade to XSX or PS5 version if you buy the XBO or PS4 version, something other games seem to be doing:

And... there will be an anime on Netflix in 2022:

I'm still not too fond of the style and the settings of the game. I'll probably end up buying it anyway, but, still...

Deux Ex was a immediate hit in terms of basically everything. This game just doesn't wow me in the same way. "Night City", meh. Body builded musclemen or freaks as NPC's, don't like the name and the character of the factions much. I don't know. Just doesn't talk to me the way the old and new Deus Ex's do. They definitely have more appeal for me than this. This rather looks and feels like a comic compared.

Sorry for being all negative. Just my opinion, of course.

The children and grandchildren of the zoomers will all look like that. Genetic engineering, body modification, advanced prosthetics, advanced hair dyes, designer drugs, etc. Cyberpunk 2077 is just depicting normal life 50+ years from now.

I played the original pen & paper Cyberpunk, and I think they got the style quite right, along with all the cult movies. This is basically 80s extrapolated into the future, and that's correct.

Funny that Deus Ex gets mentioned so often, because despite strong art style it had some really nonsensical ideas, especially in terms of being a prequel to original DX. Hengsha is one of those, design and lore wise, but also the whole fashion and black/gold color scheme. I get where they're coming from, but whether it makes sense in DX context is another story. To me it's more like they hired some fine arts interns who majored in fabric and clothing, and they needed to find them something to do for the project. :D

TBH, I wouldn't even want to mention it that often. I just do because, everywhere, Cyberpunk gets compared to it. Right from the start, I didn't feel like they have much in common, apart from obviously being of the same genre. It's like comparing Elder Scrolls to The Witcher. Very different games also IMO.

This guy gives a strong "Illusive Man" vibe for people who played Mass Effect 😉

I played Deus Ex and Deus Ex Human Revolution, but they both did not really click for me, so I finished neither. I like the Cyberpunk genre in films (Bladerunner, Ghost in the Shell, Total Recall, Battle Angel Alita; all great films), but in games it did not really work for me so far. On the other hand, I loved the Witcher games (although Withcer 3 had a lot of meaningless "occupy the player" taksks), so maybe I will still give it a shot. But definitley only, when I get it on sale for less than 30 bucks.

Considering there are sooo few (too few) cyberpunk-themed immersive sims with RPG elements, I think a comparison to Deus Ex is pretty fair. What else is there? System Shock. That's about it, right?

On the other hand, you have tons of fantasy RPGs so that the spectrum of different kind of games is a lot more defined, which leads to your example comparison, Elder Scrolls vs Witcher, not being valid.

Finally a high bitrate version of the latest trailer is available:

https://www.gamersyde.com/video_cyberpunk_2077_the_gig-45034_en.html

If that is representative of the game running with DLSS 2.0 enabled then I am impressed with the clarity and sharpness. Watched it on a C9 and looked like native 4k to me.

I don't have a 4K display so I'm not going to bother downloading a 1.5 GB 2-minute clip, but one of you might find this useful.

Even if your monitor doesn't support the resolution, higher bitrate means image quality will be better. This is especially true on Youtube which has low bitrates. 4k will look much less compressed than 1080 even on a 1080 monitor.

All of those screenshots look great, but the rain and palm tree one really sticks out for me. It looks like it will be a really cool city to just wander around in. And this could end up being one of the best showcases of real-time ray-tracing to date.

The next-gen AMD RDNA2 and Nvidia Ampere GPUs should have about 3-4x the ray-tracing performance of Nvidia Turing (the overpriced beta test), with no or low FPS penalty for turning it on. Also, if you have an expensive Turing GPU, especially the RTX 2080 Ti, you might want to sell it by next week or two. You might be able to get nearly the full amount you paid for the card and use it to buy a cheaper next-gen GPU that outperforms it. Ref: youtube.com/watch?v=9zJL99lb7F4

The first shot is really deilicious. The rest is... well.. Cyberpunk. All a bit crazy, out of this world modern. As I mentioned above, I guess I expect Deus Ex a bit too much. Or maybe I'm just looking for something a bit less exaggerated.

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
