It's curious, I'm in a social network (Lemmy), there are a lot of threats with security and privacy as main theme and everybody using all kind of privacy tools, VPN, I2P, TOR... claiming agains big corporations because surveillance advertisings, etc. and seem to forgot all in the gaming world, despite that the behavior of Steam is worse as a lot of the soft companies which are criticized.

I'm not wearing a tin foil cap, but for me online privacy is a basic right, because in many cases it is synonymous with security.
I imagine it would happen that other services or software that we use requires an account in a third-party company and requires a desktop client to be able to use this software, the protests would be epic, but this is exactly what Steam and others do and no one bothers. I just don't understand it and I don't find it desirable either, even if I'm not a fan of privacy beyond reason, simply I don't like that someone breath in my neck when I want relax and playing a game or whatever I do in my PC.

      Terribly difficult juggling map designing with work, but I'm still alive and chipping away at something very special.
