Netflix Witcher Timeline

Even though I've read the Witcher books, I was a bit confused by the timeline when watching the series on Netflix, because they don't tell you where you are in time as the episodes unfold.

To help with this, someone has created a timeline. If you've already watched the show but plan to rewatch it, this might help. If you haven't seen the show, be warned that the timeline image contains spoilers.

Enjoy!

That song has been stuck in my head for a solid week! Overall, I'm a pretty big fan of the show. It has a handful of issues, but overall, it seems like they were true to the books, barring a few things

I enjoyed it.

There are critical reviews of Cavill’s acting, but in my mind he does a good job with Geralt’s moodiness and minimal verbiage. You aren’t told what he had to go through to become a Witcher, which would help. Perhaps they’ll cover that in a future season.

I also enjoyed it quite much. I have played all the main games (only started, but did not finish Thronebreaker, yet) and have read the first couple of books so far and they are really quite true to the books. If you have enjoyed the games and want to get more background without reading the books, it is definitely worth watching. The jumping timeline made it a bit difficult to follow, but having read the books it was fine for me (although I have misplaced the point in time of the Battle of Sodden Hill in the books). There are minor indications, where you are at some points (e.g. at one banquet you can see King Foltest as a child), but in general it is not that easy to tell. One thing I found strange was that Geralt only carries one sword on his back in the series (although he carries the second one with him), but this is only a minor detail, as are any other points that I found bad/irritating. One of the things they did better than expected/feared is Geralt's voice. Cavill does the rough/smoky voice very well, which would have spoiled the series for me, if it were otherwise.

That complies with what I've read in several reviews.

I have not read the books nor played the games. Not having these preconditions, does it make sense to watch the show in the first place?

Yes. The timeline should help, especially since Witchers and Mages don’t age, which adds to the confusion, since the season covers a span of 65 years w/o telling you.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
