Thief 2 display error

Hi guys, Due to the Corona virus I'm stuck in Sweden awhile longer. So I finally got Thief2 to work on my mom's machine today, but I end up with a display error. The top half has a bunch of red lines (see attachment), but the game is playable, it's not crashing, but I can't play with all those red lines.

Any ideas on how to fix this? It's probably simple, but I have no clue.

Thanks for any help :)

What's the computer's specs?

Also make sure you use the T2Fix.

I forgot about T2fix. Where is the link to the broken CD file/program, so I can skip the CD. It used to be in Essentials at the-circle, but now I can't find it.

As for the pc. I remember it being an i5 core, 16Gb RAM, 1Tb SSD. The Graphics card is nVidia Geforce GT 1030. Just remembered I should probably update the Graphics card drivers, it's been 3 years...

Can't help you with the No-CD, I have the Steam version, which you can just copy from the Steam folder, and, I always patch that.

Surely try the things you mentioned, though. Updating the graphics drivers, and installing it with T2Fix.

Not sure if it's a real no-cd, but, it's stated here that it removes the Safedisc protection: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Thief_II:_The_Metal_Age#Availability

I never had to do with that, because, as I mentioned, the Steam versions of Thief Gold and Thief 2 are DRM free, and don't require anything, plus you can copy them to wherever you want, and patch them there.

The Newdark "patch" is a "replacement executable". If a Newdark "patched" T2 install works with no-cd on one system,

it will do so on all systems.

Please visit TDM's IndieDB site and help promote the mod:

(Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)

It is my understanding that Newdark is a No-cd executable and it is packaged in T2fix

yepp, I noticed. I forgot to Close the cd tray in the dark and it played anyway. It was Before the fix, it kept asking for it.

I have Steam for Thief 4 with the Xbox controller on Win 10, so all I needed was the USB wired controller. But I prefer the legacy keyboard over the controller. Got Xbox for T3, but gave it away to my god kid, cuz I don't like the controller. Could still play T3 with a kb.

Over the years all the Thief games except 4 has the kb Controls set to T1. Got used to it & kept it & reset all future ones to that way. Even TDM. 🙂

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
