Hosting Additional Mirror?

I have a nice, 2TB storage dedicated server I can put to use as a mirror if necessary. It's US based and should be able serve everything pretty quickly.

Is there a need for another mirror to host missions and game files at this time?

The number of mirrors is not too high today, and new mirror would definitely be welcome.

However, we have been split on the question of whether we could use a server as official mirror when its owner has zero posts on these forums. The TDM code does not properly verify downloads, so we must be sure that mirrors owners can be trusted. Sorry.

That's understandable. I am still new to the community and thought I found a way to help out with what I had on hand. I'll be sure to contribute more in the future.

Hello again, @Kowmad !

Over the long year, we have revamped our system of mirrors, both for the game itself and for the FMs.
Now it should be much easier and safer to add an HTTP server to mirrors.

We would be happy to add your server as a mirror if you still want to do so!

The hard requirements are:

  1. TDM game takes 6 GB, FMs take 9 GB. So you need at least 20 GB of storage.
  2. Server must allow to download files via HTTP protocol by direct URL. That's what HTTP servers always do, actually 😁
  3. Run rsync pull every hour/day/week to synchronize data.
  4. For TDM game mirror, server must support multipart byteranges. For FMs mirror, it is not necessary.

As for other things, the outbound traffic on mirrors is rather high. The rough order is terabyte per month.

      The best thing about not mapping more than like every other year is the awesome feeling to see how far TDM has gotten in all appartments. I can just create some parallaxing cobblestones and walk to and fro and just let the jaw drop

      Hey, was trying to use the TDM_Update.exe file, but when I do it doesn't do anything! It just goes back to 2.12. I'm trying to run Luitenant 4, but it won't update, so I can't play it. What am I doing wrong?

      Been away for quite a long time, didn't have much free time sadly, but the little that I had I was able to play a Romhack for Ocarina of Time called "Sands of Time".
      It's great, fun, rather hard but too but I like it (except when it's way too tedious, only some parts are, not all of them)
      Although the reason I'm sharing this is...Listen to the music, I've timestamped it to 27:56, it's titled "Memories Lost".
      Doesn't it sound so serene, so melodic...So Thief-like? It's fantastic, I love it, it reminded me of Thief and how much I want to get back to it, so hopefully this month or the next, I will have a lot of free time to play it.
      I can't wait to try that new big Thief campaign, The Black Parade, it seems to be promising.
      No spoilers please, but can someone tell me if it has horror elements? Or better yet, horror mission...Or even missionS?
