TDM Downloading Missing Rating *****

Hey,

For new players, it's difficult to know which missions are really good, or really hard. A rating system

in the notes of the mission would really help that and it wouldn't be hard to implement. 

What do you think?

These are TDM FMs sorted by the rating, there are other filters there too.

Something like this already came up numerous times. I agree that we need such a feature for new players. However, the general consensus was to not add it as a means to not discourage mappers from producing FMs, e.g., if their FM has been rated badly.

I know about the above rating site. However I was thinking in the in game mission downloader, because that's where most new
players are going to get their missions.  Also that list is nowhere near complete.

I agree with the consensus that opinions on missions should be separate from the software that enables to play them. These are two different things.

Number of missions listed on the TDM site is 164. There are 149 missions listed in Thief Guild database.

If you select for just the Best, there's only 5 pages.

That's a completely different thing. You said the Thief Guild list is nowhere near complete, while in fact it's almost up to date with official TDM FM list.

 

Hah, sorry I made a typo, the official TDM list has 146 (not 164) entries, while Thief Guild has 149, so either the latter is actually more up to date, or there is a mistake somewhere

This is the first time I ever heard of this site and taking a look at the maximum number of votes being 12 either most other TDM players don't know either or the player base of TDM is much smaller than we think. Are there any numbers available on how often missions get downloaded? Because ratings with so few votes are much too subjective to me.

The question is, what is "most TDM players" in terms of actual numbers (not that I know the answer ). But it's probably safe to say that most of TG's target audience is the TTLG crowd now. So people who play TDM missions in addition to Thief 1/2 FMs, rather than exclusively.

So how large is the TTLG crowd? I for one only play TDM and nothing even further in the past ;)...
