TDM v2.10 unable to initialize OpenGL on laptop w. MX150

Asus i5 zenbook with MX150.

Opened my WIP in the laptop to check and compare framerates against my i5 desktop with geforce 1060.  Since I'm using the dev build 16269-9407 on the desktop, used the same build on the laptop and got "Unable to initialize OpenGL" screen.

Backtracked thru' the dev builds and found the last working version was dev16225-9284, which loads the game fine.  Problem starts with dev16238-9330 and the two newer versions.

No similar problem on the desktop.

(and.... WIP framerates on the laptop will give some people heart attacks.  Tho' I find it still playable - TDM isn't deathmatch - and it looks very good on that little machine.)

@duzenko

1.  opening TDM, prior to mission loading:  GPU 1 - copy (nvidia)

    after mission loaded:  GPU 1 - 3D (nvidia)

2.  laptop:  1920x1080

     desktop:  3840x2160  (a cheap LG TV - good for my failing eyesight, esp. when mapping, but looks like washed out crap compared to the crisp clear color of the laptop)

nvidia control panel can allow me to choose "preferred graphics processor" but ignores that when loading games.

Thanks

The same build that fails on the laptop still works OK on the desktop, right?

Laptop is running Windows?

I could try my nVidia laptop later this weekend, but can you try the latest drivers from Intel, nVidia, and Asus website in the meantime?

Ah, and also try changing the r_glCoreProfile to 0 in the .cfg

@duzenko

It's fixed - by updating the intel gfx with the intel drivers at the Asus site.

I had thought, since it was using the nvidia chip, that updating the nvidia drivers would be enough.  But I guess that "GPU 1 -copy" also addresses the intel chip.

Thanks, and I apologize for wasting your time!

      i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
      tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

      Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
