On a lighter note (and because my holiday started today, oh yeah!), let's have a new thread for music, that you just enjoy and probably is not so well known...or somehow obscure but does not sound as strange as the songs we report in @STiFU's progessive music thread. :)

Here is one of my new favourites, a similar recording of this track by other artists  has been used in an US show broadcasted last year ( @Amadeus: What is the name of the show? :) )

Yep. First episode aired October 20, 2019.

EDIT: And I guess since we are talking about music here, I absolutely loved Trent Reznor's score that he did for the show. Just masterclass work all around

@Amadeus

Ah, interesting. I did not know that. Most probably because back then I bought it on the PS store.

However, the best lines are:

Poor Judd is dead
He looks like he's asleep
It's a shame that he won't keep
But it's summer and we are running out of ice.

...let's include it in a readable in "HH: Eclipse" which I will start after "The Black Mage"! :)

Could not agree more.

Here comes his hearbreaking instrumental of "Life on Mars" (put into the show for a certain reason):

I find that a lot of people don't give Classical music much of a listen, but in this crowd that's probably not the case.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

I do like classical music, for sure, but I'm a huge sucker for violin. This has always been one of my favorites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngjEVKxQCWs

EDIT: And Beethoven absolutely was the metalhead of his time, without a doubt

@AluminumHaste: Yeah, Danny Elfman's Batman score had something and  I am extremely delighted that you also like The Dark Crystal's score! :)

@Zerg RushIf good ol Lou could hear how this you lady plays his music! 😄

....and here comes the song to one of Walter White's most famous lines:

"Stay away from my territory!"

What a fracking fitting cool tune.

I'll have you know I enjoy every weird artist I reported to the other thread. :awesome:

That said, while I do gravitate towards the unusual these days...

...I have some artists in particular that are a bit more conventional I also enjoy a lot.

I'm not really into synthwave/retrosynth/whateverthehell in general, most artists just don't quite cut it, but I really like Perturbator's darksynth. The Uncanny Valley in particular is amazing. Too bad the new album sucks.

The Midnight are a much dreamier side of the synth-coin compared to Perturbator. Not to mentioned it's predominantly sung. The vocal melodies really carry the whole thing. Any release is fine to start with, but Days of Thunder has freaking Days of Thunder.

Anathema are rock band of some kind, but even then not really ordinary. Moody, with pianos, string sections, male and female vocals. I pretty much exclusively listen to them in the summer. If I have a favorite song, it's Untouchable pt.1. Weather Systems and Distant Satellites would be my recommended albums to check out.

Worth mentioning I was a major metalhead in the past, but don't care much for the style as a whole these days. Not because of any notion of "new metal sucks", I just can't be bothered. Occasionally something exceptional happens, like the most recent Mgla album. Already knew the band, but Age of Excuse was the first album I bought.

According to reports, Bruce Springsteen went to a music store to buy twenty copies of his debut record so that he could distribute it to his friends.

Cool tune from French musician Chris Joss. If I recall corectly, he did lots of Acid/Techno stuff in the 1990s as well.

This was used in the famous scene, when Mike Ehrmantraut searches the Cattleman mansion for the missing public money.

With that in mind, it's best to listen to on a hot summer day after sunset in the garden with a drink in hand.

The Ink Spots - The Modern Talkings and the AC/DCs of the 40/50s with song structures following the rules below:

1. Start with the same guitar intro

2. Have the singer singing the first verse

3. Have a dark voice chanting the first verse followed by a solo

4. Have the singer singing the first verse again.

5. End

Proof  #1:

Proof #2:

Proof #3:

However, I like the songs! :)

@Amadeus

The Amadeus Challenge (easy):

Name two video games using one or several of the three tunes listed above!

The Amadeus Challenge (hard):

Name three TV shows using one or several of the three tunes listed above!

Note: If you try to answer this using a search machine, I will find out and you will be striked from my list of friends!

I immediately recognised the first from Fallout 3. Great irony playing the song on a radio in a wasteland after a nuclear blast; I loved it 😄

Don't know other games using one of these, but the style would fit to Bioshock as well.

Good lad, you are right; Bioshock and Fallout (though, I thought it was used only in game in Fallout).

What about the TV shows? Any guesses?

Let me narrow it down: The TV shows are - surprise - from the USA. :)

I'm back! Happy new years, TDM folks!
I brought with me a quick update for my first FM that fixes up a lot of small issues that didn't get caught in beta testing. I didn't exactly expect it to take me nearly 9 months to release a patch, but it's been a wild year to say the least. Teaching, finishing up my Master's of Education, and all manner of other events forced me to drop out of the anniversary FM contest and ate up all my time, but I'm back again in a comfortable position to start catching up on all the new FMs. I may even start work on another spooky project of greater length and difficulty in the coming year.
Thanks again for the warm welcome to the community and have a happy new year!

I got myself the apple tv trial subscription. I have to say, “Foundation” (season 1) is very exciting. Shall I read the books as well?

Where is the "Game Connection" element in the Linux version of DR? I could swear, I saw that in an older build (which I conveniently deleted a few days ago).
