These are of wonderful! I do have a request if you don't mind. Is there an openable version of the cabinet on the far left? It would be cool to be able to open those glass doors, search it for loot, etc

Oh yes!  The prefab with openable doors works perfectly with the desk3_complete.  Thanks!

eta: now changed to the desk3 prefab.

I think I know what assets are there but then find out I don't know half of it.

Great work, nice to see the cabinet1 series continued!

I've done the preparation for assimilating them into the core assets by renaming them etc. and have the following remarks:

- If you don't mind, I've used Blender to extend the wave-shape of the hutch's drawers to the surfaces immediately above and below.

- It looks like you've exported these with a slightly older version of DR? This is because the models suffer from the excess vertices bug that was patched in one of the more recent DR versions, which can affect shading. I've fixed that in Blender.

- The small table seems a little high compared to other tables, which could result in clipping with AIs sitting at them. To be sure I've lowered the tabletop from 39 to 37 units.

- In skins, it's good to get into a habit of putting model paths and material names into quotation marks. This ensures you never get problems with unusual symbols or unintentional keywords.

I'll share my local version once it's all done.

By the way, make sure to check the desk prefabs, since you can find a complete and decorated version of desk3 with all moving parts there.

@Dragoferwow thanks for taking your time polishing these up! If anyone “gets” cabinet1 it’s you, so please feel free to make any alterations you like!

-I will fix the path convention in my skins going forward.

-I actually am using the latest release of DR - Since these were thrown together with brushes, while I tried to caulk everything which was not visible I imagine there is some sloppy work/excess faces in there that could just account for the excess vertices?

-I actually forgot the table was in the pack. I feel like the concept of “cabinet1 as table” could go a bit further than that simple model, but I did find in my map there was a need for a table with a narrower desk like footprint as sometimes a table just looks more natural in a space than a desk.

@geegee no credit here! I yanked the doors from the incredible desk03 prefab itself - only tweaked the movement speed and angle - definitely check that one out as well as the desk02 prefabs as there is an awesome amount of detail put into those!

@Wellingtoncrab
Sure, I'm always open to creative reuse of good furniture textures. And all assets that get included into core should be vetted and made consistent with existing conventions.

Then it's possible that not just patches, but also brushes were affected by the bug. Each triangle in the model becomes a standalone surface with 3 unique verts, which can easily double the total vert count for a model.

If you've still got the original brushwork I could use that to open a bugtracker ticket. It looks like Greebo's doing a models-focused update for DR 2.14, so it'd be a good time.

Btw, it'd be nice if the hutch had a few prefabs. Maybe 1 could be what you showed in the screenshot, another 1 with some plates on display and so on. (Yeah, I should probably have made more than 1 prefab for desk3 so we don't have the curious situation where every noble now has a model ship in his desk vitrine).

@Dragoferattached is the original brushwork if that is helpful.

When your local version is done I will put together some prefab variants for the hutch and the curio cabinet.

Edit: also there was a texturing issue with the feet on the filing cabinet which I have correct in the main post

Can this please be added to the next core 2.10 update?

Also I think I should print a t-shirt now. With the model and the headline cabinet1 on it. Nobody will get this, which makes it even more reasonable and funny.

I just uploaded a new version of the Visible Player Hands mod. It's been updated for TDM 2.13 and has new animations. Check out the post if you're interested!

I moved from Manjaro Linux (rolling release) to Linux Mint (LTS). One of the reasons was that I found the updates a bit too often and long. But now on Mint I get updates every day, although they're usually small updates.

I'd like to track my level design progress a bit more often now, so I'm using the feed in my profile here.
I've been working intensively on Springheel's YouTube course over the past few days. I'm currently up to lesson 8. There is so much information that needs to be processed and practiced.
I have started to create my own house. As I don't have the imagination to create a good floor plan, I grabbed a floor plan generator from Watabou and experimented with it. I chose a floor plan that I will modify slightly, but at least I now have an initial idea.
I used two guards as a measuring tape: The rooms are two guards high. It turned out that I can simply double the number of boxes in DarkRadiant in grid size 8 that are drawn in the floor plan.
I practiced the simplest things on the floor plan first. Drawing walls, cutting walls, inserting doors, cutting out frames, creating VisPortals, furnishing rooms.
I have had my first success in creating a book. Creating a book was easier than I thought. I have a few ideas with books. The level I'm creating will be more or less a chill level, just for me, where I'll try out a few things. I don't have an idea for my own mission yet. I want to start small first.
For the cellar, I wanted to have a second entrance, which should be on the outside. I'm fascinated by these basement doors from the USA, I think they're called Bilco basement doors. They are very unusual in Germany, but this type of access is sometimes used for deliveries to restaurants etc., where barrels can be rolled or lifted into the cellar.
I used two Hatch Doors, but they got completely disoriented after turning. I have since got them reasonably tamed. It's not perfect, but it's acceptable.
In the cellar today I experimented with a trap door that leads to a shaft system. The rooms aren't practically finished yet, but I want to continue working on the floor plan for now. I'll be starting on the upper floor very soon.

On a lighter note, thanks to my cat-like reflexes, my superior puzzle skills and my perfect memory, I was able to beat the remastered version of "Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation" in a new superhuman record time of 23 h : 35 m, worship me!
