Personally I think Thief is done, there was a trilogy. If someone makes a new thief, just make a new game, with a new story, protagonist and possibly gameplay. Thief fans that only want pure Thief gameplay, can just play TDM. Not to say this is the only thing TDM has to offer.

but I think it's either not going to happen, or if it is, it will not be perfect. Putting these Thief games in a new engine, will alter gameplay, for the good, but possibly also for the bad. We've seen it before..

...or at least I think it's a standalone engine. It looks a bit different, but maybe it's just a mod of this engine.

I already said it, just don't make it official Thief, that raises expectations too high. Also, it's probably better of with indie devs.

If they do a remake of Soul Reaver, I hope they include the content that didn't make it in the original due to time issues. There's a guy on YT that went through all that content and would make the game even better. A 3rd person version of the first Blood Omen would also be great.
