Popular Post Airship Ballet Posted June 24, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted June 24, 2022 (edited) Quote Last week, I got a letter. I’d been staying at an inn on the river, laying low under a fake name after the Braeden job. It had been dark for hours, and I was dozing in a chair when I heard a tap at the window. A crow had landed on the windowsill, and it went ballistic when it saw me; started flapping, cawing, making these rasping noises that almost sounded like words. I was about to shut the curtains on it when I saw a roll of paper tied to its leg. It was written on fine paper, no watermark, fancy but indistinct handwriting and, of course, no return address. There was my name, above a polite request laden with threatening subtext. I was, in no uncertain terms, being hired to do a bank job. 'ello! As you may be aware I spent the first week of this month remaking La Banque Bienveillante, the first mission of my Quinn Co. campaign I started almost a decade ago. Well, with the help of a bunch of lovely beta testers over a month of feature creep, it's now done! I've made a new topic rather than necroing the old one, because I feel it's come along enough now that it is, essentially, a whole new mission made in the spirit of the original. The goal is to eventually make the existing missions obsolete and put this new campaign in its place, but when that happens I'll include a link to the old .pk4 in here for posterity, since I don't believe in deleting work entirely no matter how mediocre it was! To that end, can this please be entered into the mission downloader as a standalone mission? It can then replace the existing Quinn Co. once the second mission is out, thanks! This is a small, short and sweet bank heist that sets the stage for the larger--and much more difficult--campaign in the works. It's mechanically stripped back a little from the initial release, since I feel I got a bit carried away. It is, however, far prettier as well! Your objective is, of course, the vault, but you can take on extra jobs for people to make money on the side; while the vault gives you money to spend in the next mission's shop, it doesn't count towards your overall loot objective whereas optional jobs do, so it's up to you if you'd rather almost empty the place to make ends meet, or take on extra work if you're less inclined to go hunting for shinies! Screenshots Thanks Big thanks to all the lovely beta testers without whom the mission would probably fail to run! Acolytesix, Datiswous, jaxa, madtaffer, Shadow, thebigh, The Black Arrow, Wellingtoncrab & wesp5 And thanks to everyone who's continued to contribute to the project over the years - I've come back and there's so much more fantastic content to play with! And thanks to you! For playing! I'd love to hear what you think, and feel free to notify me of any issues - provided they're not game-breaking, they'll be fixed when Quinn Co 2 comes out soon! datiswous Posted June 24, 2022 Report Posted June 24, 2022 Congratulations! I just want to note that the quoted text on top of your post is black on a very dark background on the forum's dark theme. So I can't read it. Possibly it still has styling because it is copy pasted? It should be white on dark grey. 1 Quote
Cambridge Spy Posted June 24, 2022 Report Posted June 24, 2022 Got everything, except... Spoiler One loot remains, but I can't seem to access it without noclipping. How am I supposed to reach this secret area? 1 Quote "Let me guess - little blue men with three heads stole your sweetroll?"

Shadow Posted June 24, 2022 Report Posted June 24, 2022 Fun and atmospheric mission with some great views, loot in an old fashioned sleuthing style bank heist. This mission adds to a great year for new missions from talented first-time and classic creators. 1 Quote

datiswous Posted June 26, 2022 Report Posted June 26, 2022 (edited) Btw. this sofa sounds a bit hard. If I jump on it or I let bottles fall on it, it makes sounds like the floor and the ai notice it. Maybe it is a cleverly disguised wooden sofa (green paint, etc.), so it looks soft, but actually it is not.. Edited June 27, 2022 by datiswous 1 Quote
McPhisto2051 Posted June 27, 2022 Report Posted June 27, 2022 (edited) Seems that im super blind, I can't neither find a code for the vault, nor a leaver or sth for the generator... *nvm, I looked at the wrong place ^^ But a nice mission, congrats for the release! ps: I looted the secret by accident through the wall... never found it. Kopfrkingl Posted June 27, 2022 Report Posted June 27, 2022 I remember playing the original missions years ago, so going into this I expected only a bit of visual polish and gameplay fixes. What I got instead is a brilliant little mission that might be small compared to the many gargantuan sized missions released recently, but it more than makes up for it in its visual and audio qualities. The high level of polish and attention to detail really sell this mission to me. Visually it's a real treat, I love what you did with the lights and shadows, and the corridors and rooms feel lived in and with many personal touches to show the establishment is on its last legs. Listening to the storm in the background was pretty relaxing as well and I couldn't get enough of the lightning as it booms and lights up the room. Top notch atmosphere. I'm also a big fan of various little side jobs the player can do aside from the mail goal, so that's a big plus too. Thank you for the FM and good luck with the campaign! 2 Quote

snatcher Posted June 27, 2022 Report Posted June 27, 2022 Very nice little mission, Airship Ballet. Thanks for sharing your work. Spoiler A rainy night sets the pace perfectly. Small areas allow for a more intimate and relaxed approach. Since there aren't many places to go, small maps are perfect to slowly unfold complex side stories that follow the player all the way-through. Very good attention to detail, lightning and and textures, my eye scanned every corner of the place with pleasure. Did you get ideas for the distribution of corridors and rooms from any source? I mean, I kept thinking, this place reminds me of very old multi-storey buildings where walls were raised and rooms were designed in the most peculiar way for some reason. Interesting floorplan. My ears welcomed some new sounds, specially approaching and inside the vault however, while the intro script and the acting sound very professional I could hardly hear and follow the protagonist. Perhaps it's just me? 1 Quote
