The springs and buttons are animated, so that the move when you click on them. The color and text of the buttons is obvisouly not so fitting for us, but I think the background theme could work to give some ideas.

Take away the background and the title and that also could be for any game out there. Which is, of course, true of virtually every menu in existance. It's not the buttons that make a menu unique, it's the surrounding graphics. And our last consensus was that people wanted an animated game-map in the background. If people have other versions to submit we can always put it to a vote, but it's pointless to have Napalm wait another two months to get started while people rehash debates we had back in December.

Personally I like your concept. I was just showing the screens to give some ideas. Anyway. I don't know why Napalm really needs the actual graphics, because you can easily exchange that later on. The menu could be ready a long time ago and it would only take some smaller adjustments if we want to have a new menu layout.

You can easily change the background, or some of the graphics, but the GUI editor determines the size and location of the buttons, so that's much more annoying to change after the fact.

I had forgotten about that Syberia menu, Sparhawk. I really liked it. In motion, it really is unique. But then again, I go goo-goo over gears and clockwork stype stuff. I'm starting to lean toward more of a T2 interface again, but I'm willing to concede to our creative lead (SH). If we already decide on this back in December, we should strongly consider just going with it. The main thing I'd mention to change on SH's mockup is make the frame/borders on that pop-up style window be a little thicker and maybe add a few more designs, and thicker designs around the border of the inside of that pop-up. I'm gonna be on a business trip all week, otherwise I might try to make a menu on my own also for multi-voting or something.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
