Exactly, it has to do with the charts. Check the offices of the other inventors for more information.

okay, I had missed Jonas' office for two reasons:

Spoiler

I had gone through a ventilation hatch in the library, and mentally checked off that clue

I figured maybe he had the key on him in the basement

now I've found his combination clue document but I'm still having trouble interpreting it:

Spoiler

Winter Tulip: 9

Iron Gate: this could be anything?

Solomon: 7 or 6?

Falcon: 8

I don't know what that means! 😭

to me it looks like the combination should be

Spoiler

9 # (iron gate constellation is a square divided into four squares) 6 8

but no number works in the second position.

please tell me the solution and exactly how to get it because I just can't put this together

Check Hugo‘s Post Anode. My mobile phone autocorrected the last word in my previous post the wrong way. Sorry.

Thank you both for the help. I was trying to see numbers instead of counting. Not sure if I missed a more explicit clue, just saw

Spoiler

the note mentioning Jonas is enamored of Miss Maria, and his poem with the constellations. Several of them look like numbers, but not the number needed.

Did this not confuse beta testers? Maybe I'm extra special...

----

Mission 5: I've picked up the copper fuse, but the doors out seem to both be broken. I don't see any switches or hatches that would give me an alternate exit...

There are switches/Buttons in this area. Maybe try your Luck on the lower floor.

No clue how to get the code from Maria's observatory... I see there must be a way in to Jonas' room for a clue. Maybe a hint on how to get in there? (Of course I find it just after posting this so...)

Really enjoying this campaign. Thank you for all the work you put into this!

I'm on Mission 4 and discovered something that may or may not be a bug.

Spoiler

I'm in the room at the top of the elevator, after disabling the alarm with the moulds. I gave up on the combination even though I've counted the dots in drawings in Maria's room and have Jonus' poem. (No combination seemed to work!) So then I just decided to shoot a broadhead arrow at the button on the far side of the elevator. The left hand elevator door then opened and the elevator started to descend. I tried to simply jump on board for the ride down, but I found I was unable to move anywhere, as if I was paralysed. I had to go back to an earlier save. I tried again with the arrow from different locations in the room, always opening the elevator door, but then I was permanently stuck.

Weird or intended, I don't know.

Spoiler

Yeah, as far as I read in this thread, that is not intended, i.e. a bug.

IIRC, there's a readable which gives a dead obvious hint on what you have to do to get the combination, and, Jonus' poem is a hint as well.

In version 1 of the game It is actually both. However, version 2  or 3 fixes the problem, but does not help you with the puzzle, so go on with version 1.

If chakkman's post above does not help you to solve the puzzle, then try this post of mine here.

Having a problem with the lift in mission 4.

Spoiler

I've inserted the conduits and the code, pulled the lever and... one door opens, then another but the button in the lift doesn't do anything. I've blackjacked it to death but nothing.

What am I missing?

First of all, thank you for this treat. This world is so full of wonderful details, it is a fantastic story, it has everything. But I am literally stuck in Mission 5. I have found Desmond, but after the dialogue, I am stuck, i.e. I cannot move forward, backward or to the sides. I can still crouch and jump. I tried noclip, but that did not help either. What can I do?

Did yo complete the other mandatory objectives? You cannot use the button before you have done so.

Sounds like a bug as if the script did not conclude with the last command giving movement back to the player, has never happened during beta and has not been an issue till now. :(

Can you go back to an earlier savegame and try again?

Thanks for the quick reply. The two quicksaves I have end with the same result. But I have a savegame from the start of the mission. It will take a while to get to that Desmond again. I'll report if it did occur again in a few days...

Oh!, thanks! I hadn't realised that

the lift was the end of the mission.

This is a wonderful treat, I am loving it. Thanks so much for all your work and creativity.

Well, I did my best and replayed the mission quick, but I am still stuck after the conversation with Desmond. I tried noclipping (which does not work), and I realized the TDM console talks about Jonus, instead of Desmond (see screenshot) - is that right? Can I enter some sort of command to fix my issue?

Thanks for the support!

This has nothing to do with your problem. Will write you a PM.

Hi JackFarmer

Thanks a lot for your great work, I've just finished the last mission and really enjoyed the whole campaign series. The puzzles were so creative and funny , I was able to solve all of them without searching or asking help here, I struggled with many other FMs before, not being a native English speaker .

I liked part 4 and 5 the most, but the others were also very good.  I think your Hidden hands series with its special humour is one the best advocates of TDM, great job . When I think of the Lost citadel "lottery numbers" I can't stop laughing 😁

I played with version 1.0  In the 5th part I encountered more crashes than usual under Linux, mainly when I had to quickload 3 or 4 times . The error was "WARNING:idClipModel::FreeTraceModel: tried to free uncached trace model" sometimes the known "pthread joined failed". I run Debian 12 KDE with Nvidia proprietary driver v535. I have no idea if the game is more stable generally under Windows or Linux with Mesa.

cheers

I really liked the puzzles in the missions. It also all felt like a well rounded and "consistent" experience (which is actually pretty difficult to achieve, so, hats off to that).

I played the early Hidden Hands missions, and, I wasn't that impressed, but, Blood & Metal is really nice. The only thing I would really criticize is that the readables aren't that well written, and, I wasn't crazy about the humour ( I realize that that's a very subjective thing 😉). Apart from that, really nice missions, and, impressive that the release contained 5 missions in total.

      Beta test(er) tip:
Test your mission at least once with all lights on. This can be done using notarget in console. Maybe just quickly fly around with noclip.
Also test all lights which are off by default (enable all lights via script?). Mission testers will miss a lot of light bugs, because they take out lights with water arrows etc. and don't turn on lights so they don't spot light leaks etc. I've seen this now in some recent new missions after they're released.

What is actually grammatically correct when it happens in the future? “Paul Atreides is an idiot” or ‘Paul Atreides was an idiot’? or ‘Paul Atreides will be an idiot’? The latter would at least fit in with the whole psychic and providence stuff!
