Hello,

I am trying to run the native linux version of The Dark Mod. However, I am not hearing any sound whatsoever. I have tried fixing the problem by following many other threads that have been posted here but either I am not applying these solutions correctly or they just don't work for me.

I am running OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. I will be providing my condump and Darkmod.cfg.

I would also like to add that running the game in Wine does give me sound, however if I do that then I encounter a bug where holding left or right mouse button will mess up my mouse movement, which makes aiming while drawing a bow impossible.

Darkmod.cfg no_sound.txt

Do you have pipewire-alsa installed in zypper ?

Are you running tdm as root? ( don't do that if so )

https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=FAQ#Sound_Issues

Yes, I do have pipewire-alsa installed.

sudo zypper install pipewire-alsa
returns: 'pipewire-alsa' is already installed.
No update candidate for 'pipewire-alsa-1.4.1-1.1.x86_64'. The highest available version is already installed.
Resolving package dependencies...
Nothing to do.

Also, I made sure to close firefox before running The Dark Mod.

I don't think I am running it in sudo. I just click the .desktop application that the installer made for me.

Hmm do you have Alsa-firmware installed?

Apparently I did not have Alsa-firmware. I have installed the package and restarted my computer but unfortunately I still get no sound.

Try setting s_device to sysdefault or pipewire in the TDM console or Darkmod.cfg

Changing "seta s_device "default"" to "seta s_device "sysdefault"" or "seta s_device "pipewire"" does nothing either.

Both return:"OpenAL: device 'sysdefault'/'pipewire' not found, using default
OpenAL: no device found, sound disabled.

Try s_device alsa

If that doesn't work, try editing:

~/.alsoftrc

add

drivers=alsa

Awesome! It works now!

Just "seta s_device alsa" did not work. However I removed the # from "drivers =" in alsoft.conf and changed it to "drivers = alsa" like you said and it works now! Thank you very much for your help!
