Hi!

I play The Dark Mod on Linux and I prefer to use a controller for most games, so for games that lack native support I use a program called  AntiMicroX to map gamepad buttons from my Xbox One controller to keyboard keys. It works pretty well, and I've enjoyed using an identical setup for Thief, Thief 2, and TDM. I was pretty excited when TDM added native gamepad support, but for reasons I still prefer my setup with AntiMicroX. So I completely cleared my "DarkmodPadbinds.cfg", threw in"unbindPad" to completely disable the native controller bindings, and everything was fine.

Either that was a fluke, or one of the most recent updates changed something, because I'm now finding that "unbindPad" no longer unbinds the control sticks in TDM. I can confirm this by running TDM with my config file and without running AntiMicroX; with a controller plugged in, the control stick bindings still function both on the menu and during gameplay. Some of the button bindings also still function in the menu.

So my questions are:

1) Is it possible to completely unbind the gamepad (including the control sticks) in DarkmodPadbinds.cfg using "unbindPad" or another command?

2) Is it possible to add rebinding of the control sticks in a future update? (I realize this is probably a lot more work, but it would be nice to have!)

Thanks for all the effort you guys put into this game, I've been enjoying it for many years. :)

I've had a brief look at the code. It indeed looks like unbindPad only unbinds the pad buttons. However, I just discovered a workaround: try setting in_padDeadZone to 2.0 . This increases the deadzone to values the sticks can never reach, effectively disabling the sticks. 🙂

Well, that seems to work! Thank you for the tip!

I noticed that when running TDM after adding that line, that line is removed from the config file. Is that expected behavior? I assume TDM still "ingests" the command?

It's possible that cvar isn't archived or something like that. Whatever the reason, you can probably get around this by adding that cvar to your autoexec.cfg in your darkmod folder.

The post editor for the dark themes should be working again. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Things have been so bad these days for me...
Just a year ago, I've been feeling dizzy, I thought it was nothing, today's stress, that type of thing, went to sleep...Still dizzy! 9 more days dizzy, went to doctor (I would have gone on the first day if NOT for the long appointment time)
Said it may be Neck Dizziness...I did exercises for 6 months, no changes.
Went to a Physical Therapist, went to another, no changes.
I've asked my doctor for a full check this time.
I hated yesteryear so much due to personal reasons, this year might be the same.
To be brutally honest, I'd rather have cancer or/and chronic pain than suffer dizziness any second longer, especially when nothing helps.
Hard to enjoy Thief when you're dizzy so I was hoping this year, Winter will be best for me.

      Hello mappers and taffers!

Are you still out there? It is so calm here these days and I am afraid this is no good sign.
Proof me wrong, tell your best friend (=me), that you are still here and that you will not go away!

Happy Labour Day, my taffing taffers & hard working mapping friends!
And remember the poor souls who, within the Inventors’ organization, labor under Jonus’s yoke to ensure the success of that very guild! Always remember the hard workers!
