i can access http://%77%77%77%2E%74%74%6C%67%2E%63%6F%6D normally , i can also access it's ip on https://1255203900/forums/ ( 74.208.228.60 ) just fine

I just went there yesterday too.

sometimes i just put in certain url on downforeveryoneorjustme.com just to double check

yes it's down on my end too, i rarely get maintenance schedule info on ttlg

 

so http status code 200 seems unreliable for web monitoring, we should watch for status code 301 dan grab that "Forums are currently offline" text element , I use powershell to monitor thing like this

 

the website may return 200 OK which indicates the status is up but the most important thing is the content, status code 200 does not represent the actual up state 😂

Al_B, the admin, explained the reason in a post on the Facebook page that they were being overrun with bots and scans, so he shut the main portal down until they subsided. But anyway it's fixed now. 
 

Edit: It was more than that. He put in some kind of bot scrubber code to ... I don't know, do whatever bot scrubber code does to ward of the bots.

The TTLG Forums database has encountered a problem.

You're using a dark theme & he copy/pasted black text in. You could click-select or cntl+a higlight the text and probably read it that way, or copy & paste it into a text doc. I wonder if the forum could have code that converts text color appropriately to the forum theme, although it's not the highest priority issue anyway. 

Anyway, to respond, database errors happen sometimes, and it's usually fixed by the time the admin sees the alert and has some free time to fix whatever the issue is, which usually isn't that hard. The forum is back up now anyway. 

Edit: I say that and now it's down again. Well hopefully whatever the problem is gets reliably fixed soon!

Lots of sites have Cloudflare bouncers activated under various circumstances, doesn't necessarily indicate a DDoS.

I mean, right after I'd written my post it came back online, and I couldn't access it for 2 hours. Probably bots again, but hell if I know what's been going on with ttlg.

It's been a bit flaky lately. I've noticed it going down, then I wait 20 minutes and it's back for an hour or so, then it kaks itself for another fifteen minutes, and so on.

ttlg seems to down again at least for me I tried different forums but got same message that there is a problem connecting to site!

I had massive problems today as well. Mostly using the function so search threads. Didn't load at all.

I've been following the TTLG mod discussion on this.

Basically it's lots of bots. Lots & lots of bots. 

There are ways to crackdown to bring down the bot number like a human check when you log in, but that also tanks the SEO on the search engines and kind of ironically also deters actual humans logging in too, or something like that.

      I think I still have the login details for the Google Account used to log in to The Dark Mod's official YouTube channel. With all the new videos that have been done regarding 2.12 and 2.13, it really feels like it's time for an update. I don't know if logging into another account is going to work, as I've had some issues with it in recent times, but If I manage to do so, I'll do some updating regarding the newer videos.

      I've started working on a new mission and today I thought it would be cool to merge it with something I worked on back in 2018...It was back when I thought it was cool to work in "spread out your project like old marmalade on every wall in your house" so it took some time to fix broken assets and optimize file names and material files and those things...But it feels nice to hopefully be able to implement all that effort I put down back then. It will be "nÄgot i hÀstvÀg" as we say in Sweden
