I can no longer rotate held objects and that's probably because I customized the key strokes needed to perform that task. Problem is, there is nothing under Settings (that I can find) that will allow me to redefine the keystrokes to perform that function.

So I guess the question is...How do you customize the keystrokes to rotate held objects ?

The binding to rotate objects is Controls -> Actions -> Parry/Manipulate.

I forget if it does anything else besides that and parrying, if not then maybe it should be renamed to "Parry/Rotate Object" or something like that so it's less ambiguous.

Yes but it's a little vague. When I came back to the game from a break, I initially thought it might be for secondary frob-esque actions like snuffing candles. Of course, snuffing candles is actually an extra function of "Use Inv Item" but that's not obvious from reading either so it took a bit of testing/deduction to figure out what does what.

Thank you all for the help !

I went to "parry/manipulate" and saw that the keystroke was no longer defined. I had customized  ctrl  for   creeping.

There is nothing wrong with manipulate as a legitimate word. I was just not clear-headed at the time, and the "parry" threw me off.

Sullium - I LOVE frobesque as a word. I intend to use it in casual conversation to make myself appear smart. Which, if asked,  would also act as a segue to "push" Thief as a game to play.

It's more than rotate. You can also move the thing forward/backward with scrollwheel.

Sorry I was wrong. You can always move it via scrollwheel, but with manipulate button you can rotate.

That's actually done with the Next/Prev Inventory Item binds, not the Parry/Manipulate bind (unless I'm missing some other way to use that).

I just realized I don't have to use the scrollwheel  (which I find annoying)  to rotate a picked up item. I use the scrollwheel to move it forward and back but to rotate all I have to do is move the mouse around freely. Scrollwheel not involved. That makes it so much easier. Now I don't have to loathe those moments where I have to return things to their exact position.

Yes, moving the mouse while pushin the Z key (by default) to manipulate and rotate objects. See training mission of Manipulating objects.

Well, this is just sad...I was not able to play any Thief or TDM whatsoever, why? Too busy the past 2 months, this month I'm not as busy BUT it's also very heaty in my place.
I can't play Thief when it's not at least 15c or lower, the game demands to be played when it's cold for...Well, may sound stupid but I'll just say it, for that "immersion".
It's kinda like playing Quake during Summer, which unless it's the Summer Jam mod, I don't think it's as fun.

The preliminary working titles for the missions in my now-in-development Partners in Crime series:
      - Partners in Crime 1: A Mere Trinket
      - Partners in Crime 2: Beacon Burglary
      - Partners in Crime 3: In the Bleak Midwinter
      - Partners in Crime 4 (5 ?): Fishy Dealings
      - Partners in Crime 5 (4 ?): A Thief in the Night

No title stealing, please.  In return, I promise to finish these. I do stress the preliminary part. Beyond the broad strokes storyline, plot, objectives, briefings and the (currently built) layouts of these FMs, I haven't fully decided about every single detail yet, including the exact order of the missions (4 and 5 might switch places, with the story adjusted accordingly). I want the overall plot to be plotted out a bit in advance and not suffer too much from inserting prequels later. I also prefer to let my FM building fill out part of the details naturally.

Currently working on the second FM, and once I do enough work on the current prototype, I'll work on the first one, until I get that one released. Then complete the second one, get that one ready for release (hopefully) a few months later, and so on. I want most of the early missions to be fairly small and confined, and get a bit bigger as I grow more confident in my FM making skills.

Though there is an overarching storyline to this series, the missions themselves are mostly episodic in nature. They factor into the character development of the two main characters I'll have in the series, but it's the kind of continuity where the mission's own plot and story wouldn't depend on it.
