The Dark Mod as a GOG mod for Doom 3

Earlier this year, GOG began publishing mods. Doom 3 already has the Phobos mod published. It would not be that much of a stretch to get The Dark Mod on there as a mod for Doom 3. Anyone’s thoughts on this?

Currently TDM is a standalone game not compatible with Doom 3.

My thought is that it could be nice, but I'm not sure what it would bring tdm. More players doesn't directly correspondent to more active users. With active I mean content creators and testers.

Well I think any outreach is good. Most users won't be that active, but a few will, and that's a few you wouldn't get otherwise. So in principle it's a good idea.

But again, the issue is that despite the name, it's not actually a Doom3 mod anymore, not even really a total conversion. It's a separate standalone game that happens to use its engine as a base, and even that has been turned into essentially a new engine too. 

Edit: In the big picture, the issue is that we've already been in touch with both Steam and GOG, and there were issues getting TDM as a standalone game on both of them, about which the team basically voted we didn't want to go through the trouble of fixing, at least for the issues involved at that time. We're not really the kind of team that wants to formalize into a corporation to get on Steam, and I forget the specifics of GOG now, but IIRC it was them turning us down, or anyway stopping replying to us, more than the other way around. But again in principle, or at least I personally think getting onto GOG is great if it's ever possible.

      I think I still have the login details for the Google Account used to log in to The Dark Mod's official YouTube channel. With all the new videos that have been done regarding 2.12 and 2.13, it really feels like it's time for an update. I don't know if logging into another account is going to work, as I've had some issues with it in recent times, but If I manage to do so, I'll do some updating regarding the newer videos.

      I've started working on a new mission and today I thought it would be cool to merge it with something I worked on back in 2018...It was back when I thought it was cool to work in "spread out your project like old marmalade on every wall in your house" so it took some time to fix broken assets and optimize file names and material files and those things...But it feels nice to hopefully be able to implement all that effort I put down back then. It will be "något i hästväg" as we say in Sweden
