tes Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 Good evening, I finished Painters Wife and completed all the tasks. A wonderful mission. Almost like the old days. (Easy level, 19 hours, Stealth Core 294 – I know: fubar) At one point, I entered a room in Harrington's Manor. In this room, which contained a ladder on wheels, a fireball flew through the air. The ladder led to a hatch in the attic. In the attic, there was a pillar, probably made of wood, with a beehive-like structure on top of it, which could be marked as usable but could not be used. The pillar as a whole reminds me of a wooden dummy used for practicing fencing. Could someone please tell me what the fireball and the pillar mean for the mission? I'm sure it's completely irrelevant, because they had no influence on solving the tasks. Many thanks to everyone. Translated with DeepL.com (free version) 1 Quote
Amadeus Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 Hey, I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the mission so far! To give you a somewhat subtle hint Spoiler You need to explore one of the manors on Wycombe Street. That pedestal is meant to have something be put on it. But that "fireball" is actually just a harmless wisp. You'll understand where it comes from when you explore Wycombe Street Quote FMs: A Good Neighbor, Eye on the Prize Co-FMs: Displacement, Seeking Lady Leicester, Written in Stone, The Painter's Wife

chakkman Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 (edited) Painter's Wife has the feel of the classic citiy missions of the original Thiefs and their city FMs for me. Dunno if the OP meant that, but, that's how it is for me. Other FMs I would name in that regard: Talbot Return to the City, and Penny Dreadful 2 and 3. I think Painter's Wife comes closest to those huge classic city style FMs from the original Thief games. Edited January 28 by chakkman Quote
tes Posted January 28 Author Report Posted January 28 (edited) @datiswousFor me, as for chakkman, “the old days” are the days almost 26 years ago when I discovered Thief: The Dark Project and the years that followed until 2014, when I was able to play the entire Thief series. The game series shaped my fundamental preferences for computer games, and I am grateful that TDM exists. Edited January 28 by tes 2 Quote

tes Posted January 28 Author Report Posted January 28 I'm very sorry, I didn't know there was a Painters Wife 2, otherwise I would have labeled the thread correctly right away. Quote
irisx Posted January 28 Report Posted January 28 I'm sure this thread provided the final nudge for the team to seriously consider the much-awaited sequel 2 1 Quote
datiswous Posted January 29 Report Posted January 29 (edited) (speculation) Harrington's Manor will just be a side mission in that mansion Painter's Wife Episode 2: The Harrington's Manor Edited January 29 by datiswous Quote

Don't worry, we were just joking. The confusion was rather that this part of the forum usually is for fan mission releases, so, when I saw the name "Painter's Wife:...", I thought for a second that there was a sequel to Painter's Wife, which was quickly resolved when I visited the thread. If there were a Painter's Wife 2, I'm sure it would be ages away. Edited January 29 by chakkman Quote
