I've already finished it.

Right. I make *MY* decision, you make *YOURS*. Just as I said from the beginning.

Right, and you can't expect games to be made for non-gamers, which is what you are. You're just someone who likes to play the odd 10 minutes of a game every so often.

To fingernail - you are No 2 member. Who was No 1?!

Speaking of saves - most games ported from consoles has problems with saves. Anyone played turok 2 around here? The game is just WEIRD. But a cool game too, one of the rare ones that have hub system. THis game has a habit that in the console version, you could save only in certain places, that were very far. Also, if you die, but have "lives" left, you are ressurected at the beginning of the level but had to kill all the monsters again. Well, you had to kill them again every time you changed levels. Same with the saving - don't save yourself in the wrong place, or next time you load, there may be a bunch of raptors running at you.

Speaking of saves again, I can congratulate myself - I played through crag prison for about an hour and I still didn't save, even though I killed all zombies and blackjacked 3 guards. In the first level, I saved after every first guard or opened door and before any guard. I just have that terrible habit. Even now the game is paused, not saved... I wonder how sparrowhawk playes the game - if he can't cope with Fable... Okay, I'm back to Thief now... And those bastards didn't give me any moss arrows... And, what, noise arrows can be used twice?

Got killed. Oh, well, I'm no thief, Korax is, Korax will be... It was fun anyway...

It's Sparhawk not Sparrowhawk. :)

I can cope with Fable. But Fable is not exactly immersing to me. It's fun but not THAT much that I'm eager to continue playing it again. Just something to idle the time away. Because of that cfrap loading system I can't do it, though because when I have enough time so that I could play Fable, I rather spend my time with working on the mod. Whenever I have half an hour of spare time it's not worth to start coding on the mod, but then I can't really play Fable either, because I can't save anytime, and I don't know if I manage to complete a quest in the alloted time. And I certainly don't want to play it over and over gain just because of that. Which means that I most likely will remove it from my harddrive without playing it much further.

Just for the benifit of non-members - there will never be a need to discuss save games because we already decided it would be an option. The player can enable it or disable it at their will, and the level author can implement save points in the level but cannot force the player to use that system.

Save points should always be there, if a person can't live without saves it's his business.

If this really turns into a discussion about savegames, then the thread will be locked. You can search the forum for savegame discussions. As I mentioned above we have already at least 9 pages of "dicsussion" on this, so we certainly don't need another one which will just rehash the same arguments again and again. If you need yet another discussion on savegames you can go to TTLG as well, and find a thread about 23 pages long. I guess this should suffice to cover every aspect of savegames. If you read all that and you really think you can contribute somehting new, then feel free to add it.

Hexen, there are many of us who agree with you (like me). But there are many more who don't. That is why it will always be an option. It is the best it's going to get.

Like spar said, if you do a search, you will see where we've discussed this long and hard, all of us, every aspect of the topic. My solution to make it optional for both player and author is the only comprimise.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
