I read that you planned to do several bodys and several heads each on seperately to get more variety. I was wondering how this should be executed. Do you mean that just for modelling purposes, or do you mean that will give us coders i.e. six heads with three bodys and we can use them by assigning them randomly on the fly.

 

If the first it doesn't really matter for us, but if the latter then we have to work out if this is possible and we also need the details on how we then can combine and animate the final models in-game.

They did this in T3 to some extent...you'd see citizens with the same body but different heads (or sometimes just different hair) walking around. Whether it is done in coding or modelling doesn't really matter to me. Probably modelling is better, so that the FM is clear about what they are getting.

Doing it in modelling is certainly easier for us. :) I don't mind doing it in code, as this may be more versatile, but of course if we want to do this in code, we have to know about this. You Art guys are a rather secretive bunch. :lol:

It's really not a big deal to remodel just the head - but it'd be best if there was some way that you could take a head model and a body model and combine them. So instead of 9 models, you could have 3 heads and 3 bodies.

Well, Doom3 already does this with the zombies and scientists. There are a number of heads that are interchangeable, so if we just follow their lead with those we should have no problem with this at all.

It would be more economical to have the heads seperate from the bodies, wouldn't it? It would mean more programming work - we'd have to have a "head type" etc. property for each model, but it would allow for more variety in game. No matter how many unique models you make, if you could swap their heads etc. around, you'd have even more combinations.

It's zero problem to sculpt several diffent heads and body types from the same mesh. Making all the new textures for them is the real pain in the ass.

I know you can have random anmations playing on the legs body and head, but I'm don't think you can actually change the meshes randomly.

This would probaby mean making all the charcaters to some sort of template, which kill creativity.

      Things have been so bad these days for me...
      Just a year ago, I've been feeling dizzy, I thought it was nothing, today's stress, that type of thing, went to sleep...Still dizzy! 9 more days dizzy, went to doctor (I would have gone on the first day if NOT for the long appointment time)
      Said it may be Neck Dizziness...I did exercises for 6 months, no changes.
      Went to a Physical Therapist, went to another, no changes.
      I've asked my doctor for a full check this time.
      I hated yesteryear so much due to personal reasons, this year might be the same.
      To be brutally honest, I'd rather have cancer or/and chronic pain than suffer dizziness any second longer, especially when nothing helps.
      Hard to enjoy Thief when you're dizzy so I was hoping this year, Winter will be best for me.

      Is there a script command to make a screenshot?
      I just though it could be interesting to be able to create a screenshot at a certain point in time. Then use that screenshot possibly in a debrief.
      I guess the second question is: Can you use a (in-game made) screenshot in a (debrief) gui?
