Since I can not post this in the news/announcment I post this here, because I think it might be interesting for us.

Here you can find a project which does a similar thing like we do. :) They convert System Shock 2 to Doom 3. Maybe we can have some synergies with this project. Don't know, but I thought it is interesting for some of us.

If take a look at the 'about' section of the website, you'll find a link to a letter from Electronic Arts to the webmaster that says '...we do ask

that you drop the name and any affiliation the mod has with System Shock

or System Shock 2.'

Therefore it is also likely that the Dark Mod will not be allowed to have any 'copies' of names or objects from Thief in order to avoid copyright infringement.

The team has changed there mod from 'System Shock 2: Rebooted' to 'Sapphire Scar' and ceased any affiliation from System Shock 2, however, it is obvious that the mod is based on System Shock 2 only completely unaffiliated, which is perfectly legal.

Black Cat Games used more or less the same strategy.

They got rid of the obvious names that are copywrited but kept what cant be copywrited (potions, flashbombs, water arrows, etc). Looking at it I would say that Thievery only misses hammers. There is even a map with lookalike haunts complete with blessed arrows.

Basically yes... "Roundbased Tactical Shooter"

Excellent contextual guess!

But specifically I believe it's "Real-Time Strategy"

Yeppers.. that's old news and dead dead dead. But.. there are really good SS2 enhancement mods out there. Someone even took the best of them and put them all together and made a super mod collection. You can find the info here: http://www.gnomeslair.com/2007/03/system-shock-2-2k7.html

Recreating the exact game on a newer but more importantly someone elses engine was a No No.. that dev team should have known better. They would have been o.k. if they made a clone and called it something else. It's a pity they didn't do that and continue the work.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
