I agree with BT...the back looks too smooth and blurry to be rock. There's no reason NOT to use photoreference for things like that. :)

Excellent work! This brings us up to 62 models with 73 additional skins, and I still have some of Magnesius' to add.

Slap three or four additional skins on that window and we'll have some vaarrriety. :) Great work BT. I really need to get into some modeling soon. This stuff just looks way too artistically fulfilling to pass up. I was a pretty good artist until right after I graduated high school, almost up to Springs calibre. I would like to see if that could be translated to modeling.

If you want to add dirt to it and all, then there's no point doing it with more skins. Just put decals on it in the editor - that can look much better. Look at oDD's map as an example - the decals really give it a unique look.

I think NH is talking about skins, not decals. For example, we'd want an unlit version, which would be very easy to make. And the same model could probably be used as the base for all kinds of different windows.

I just use ordinary brushes. Very thin, with the shader looking like tis

textures/darkmod/city/wall/decal_mid_wall_grime_02

{
DECAL_MACRO
translucent
	 nonsolid
noimpact
noshadows
	qer_editorimage	textures/darkmod/city/wall/decal_mid_wall_grime_02.tga
{
	blend gl_dst_color,gl_zero
	map textures/darkmod/city/wall/decal_mid_wall_grime_02.tga
}

}

Well i don't want to tell you how to do things, but with patches you can twist the decal all over the place, and it only has one side (but if the decal is twosided then it will be seen both side), which means less polys etc etc etc

      Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

      Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
