I'm taking no favourites here. With my team off for being useless (CZ) I think I'll just go for socceroos for the sole reason that I live in AU, thus I have an obligation. Plus I think they've done pretty well out there so far.

Just thought like telling that I'm really disappointed. What the hell are Sweden doing? Also that damn judge is corrupted from his toes to top.

Yeah. That red card I did not understand. Actually from the camera review, it looked more as if germany should have gotten a yellow one. Actually both were doing the same, so I don't know what this judge is doing.

Oh my..... There's barely words for this match. Germany did a good job, well enough not to have the Judge baby-sit them. What the hell was going on?

 

Also if Sweden would've played like they did AFTER the two goals this could've ended 0-0 or 1-0 (to Germany) as a decent match. What the heck, the Swedish coach decided to make a player swap at the same time as Larsson got a penalty shot, distracting him?

 

I'm almost out of words here.

 

Great game Germany but the match could've gone on without that asshole Judge.

I think the germans were better then the other games. This time they looked as if they were actually playing. So the win was at least deserved.

The win was deserved yes, what I tried to say was that the Germans atleast could've won the "normal" way. The judge ruined EVERYTHING. :x

Sweden was not goin to win that one. Nothing was in there favor; not the venue, not the team they were facing, not the penalties, not the refs, nothing.

Heh, that's one of the advantages of being the home team, the refs tend to give decisons in your favour. Sweden played like shit though, I'll enjoy seeing Argentina beating Germany, because the Germans haven't actually played a good team yet, and when they do their defense will be shown up for what it is.

Wel, they played much better than anything that Germany had faced yet. I wonder wether their shy strategy is so good, or if they just haven't come across a good team yet.

The worst were Ecuador. It seemed as if most of the time they didn't see when one of their team mates is near to pass the ball. Some of them played as if they didn't know that football is a teamgame. Maybe it was just desperateness.

Victory my ass, they won nothing. They may as well just draw straws. It all comes down to the goalkeeper gussing the right way.

Italy won 3-0, now that's a victory.

I thlnk when it's a draw, they should jsut count up who had the most accurate shots on goal, or each team pick their best fighter and they can slug it out in the centre of the pitch. Penalites are pathetic.

I don't like the German team, they always seem to get furthur than they deserve. THey beat a couple of weak teams, lurch through on a couple of penalty shoot-outs, and all of a sudden they're in the final.

EXactly, and the Portugal-Holland match was a free-for-all brawl as well, so they may as well just make it official.

 

On a more serious note, I don't like the direction football is heading of a complete no-contact sport. The slightest touch between two players brings a free kick and/or yellow card, players are rolling around on the gound like they've been hit by a sniper, and the ampount of acting and plain cheating that goes on is ridiculous.

It only serves to slow the game down and break up the flow of play.

You don't see any of that nonsense in Rugby.

Modern footballers really must be the laughing stock of the sporting world, they're the biggest bunch of overpayed, damp-eyed nancyboys imaginable.

IMO they should ditch the shootout and go for sudden death OT until some scores an actual team goal.

I think penalties are actually quite a good way to bring a decision into such a game - it's all about skill (especially of the keeper) and not loosing your nerves.

Why not just forget the game have a penalty shoot-out in the first place then. Forget all that boring football nonsense in the middle.
