SneaksieDave Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 I'm reading your thread, thinking, erm, so what? All people have to do is open the Thief Gold missions in DromEd, and they're... what? ...Then I noticed the "2". ! Quote
New Horizon Posted August 3, 2006 Author Report Posted August 3, 2006 I'm reading your thread, thinking, erm, so what? All people have to do is open the Thief Gold missions in DromEd, and they're... what? ...Then I noticed the "2". ! Ha ha! Yes, exactly. Pretty cool huh? There is already a small group getting together to finish the missions, fix up some problems with the existing ones and release a new patch for the game. There is definately enough information out there to whip something up...especially since one of the developers released his notebook awhile back. Unfortunately, the guy who got his mittens on the notebook only released half of it and disappeared. Grrr. Quote
SneaksieDave Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 It's sad that the one mission I'd care about the most is the one that's lost. Quote

Komag Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 This is cool, but I'm surprised/disappointed that they seem so very small and unfinished (in fact they look like they were barely started!). Still, great news, might eventually turn into something good and playable and inspiring Quote
ascottk Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 Wow, devs are coming out of the woodwork I wonder how many more surprises there'll be? Since I joined ttlg the tds soundtrack was released, someone emailed me Garrett_07 for tds which was the model with the cape, and now those t2 missions What else happened? Domarius Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 They seem simple enough that anyone could have started them, but I suppose if some people finish them, it would be sort of like a historical re-construction - like how they model what people from ancient cultures would have looked like, based on nothing but their bones. demagogue Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 And it's sort of cool to be able to open the .mis files in dromed, hit info_window, and see LGS developers names that we recognize. Also, a way to carry the torch of LGS's memory. I hope whatever team decides to restore them takes it seriously, though. They shouldn't be amaturish. Darkness_Falls Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Cool, thanks for posting. I rarely go to the ttlg.com forums. I like this screen: Dram - Maybe use this as inspiration for the map you're working on? *hint hint* Quote
Dunedain Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 ascottk: You mean there was a model of Garrett made for Thief III that has his accurate appearance with his long flowing hooded cloak, and you have it?! Is it in a form ready to be stuck into a Thief III directory to replace the default one so you can see Garrett the way he really looks when using the 3rd person view? Does his shadow cast properly on walls and such to reflect the presence of the cloak when using this model? Also, does he have his sword and sheath, as well? Quote

The person who sent this to me probably didn't know the difference between high & low poly. He said it was high but after I looked at it, it was very low poly. It was too much of a pain trying to get the model looking decent. Still,I might repost on the t3ed guild forum. Also, we'd have to redo all of the animations to fit the model with the cape. Dunedain Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Hmm, very interesting. I bet a 3D wiz like oddity could do wonders with that... Quote

Dunedain Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 (edited) Oh cool, is that a shot from Thief III with this accurate Garrett model fully working in-game? If such a model were available to replace the default model in Thief III, then I'm surprised I haven't seen it discussed before. Where can this fully functional model be downloaded for use in Thief III? Edited August 4, 2006 by Dunedain Quote

If such a model were available to replace the default model in Thief III, then I'm surprised I haven't seen it discussed before. Where can this fully functional model be downloaded for use in Thief III? That's not an in-game shot & it's disfunctional. Please reread my post: It was too much of a pain trying to get the model looking decent. Still,I might repost on the t3ed guild forum. Also, we'd have to redo all of the animations to fit the model with the cape. In case I didn't make that clear, it was too much of a pain & it would require all of the animations to be redone to accommodate for the cape. Either that or add the cape as a separate skeletal mesh & that would require adding a ragdoll & I found no documentation on how to do that. There's been a few attempts to make a new ragdoll with 3ds max 5.1 but they've never been successful. Quote Scott's AI models progress list Scott's SoundClick Page Scott's MySpace Page

Where can this fully functional model be downloaded for use in Thief III? That's a shot of the Thief character oDDity made for Nightblade. As ascottk said, it's not an ingame shot...it's a posed shot of the model. Has nothing to do with T3. Quote
woah Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 It seems a group of fans over at TTLG have already put together the beginnings of a development team--some of which are already beginning work--to renovate/create these missions. They seem pretty dedicated, and want to stay true to Thief 2. Mission briefings, voice acting, and accurate storyline integration are on the agenda. http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108073 Quote
Dunedain Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 Oh, ok. I thought that someone on the Thief III team had released a version of Garrett's model made for Thief III which has his proper appearance with the long cloak, but that unfortunately didn't get used in Thief III. Is that correct? So, it would take all new animations or have the cloak as a separate mesh to make it look good in Thief III, eh? Hmm, I don't see his sword and sheath on the model, or is that a separate model which is attached to Garrett's main model? Perhaps this fellow will provide the actual high res model, too. Quote
Darkness_Falls Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 Sorry to give false hopes about oDDity's model, Dunedain. I was just saying that oDDity already happened to model something very similar to that T2G model years ago for Nightblade; which I don't think has anything to do with Thief 3. Quote
Dunedain Posted August 5, 2006 Report Posted August 5, 2006 Yeah, I've seen the Nightblade model and it looks quite good, but I assume it's not in the correct form to work in Thief III, right? Or could it? Whereas this other model of Garrett that was made for Thief III, but not used for some reason, would apparently work in Thief III with the proper animation adjustments/additions. Quote
