How Did You Get Your Forum Name?

Where did you get it from, how did you decide it etc?

Mine is a slight twist to the name of the ninja in The Last Ninja series of games from System 3.

ZylonBane's confession about himself:

"What can I say, I'm a jerk. A three times all American Jerk, from Jerksville, Kentucky. Yee Haw"

I mean your username. The name you use in forums i.e. New Horizon :)

Ahhh, well...I've been using it for around 8 years now. Originally, my name was 'Lost Horizon' as there was a rather dark and depressing period of my life. When my life turned around, I felt it was appropriate for my online name to reflect that.

Who are you on TTLG?

The story of my nick is actually there somewhere if you want to look it up (when it's back up). But long story short, it's from a spoof website I put up when I first learned HTML (still in the wee early days of the net) for recruiting minions to do my evil bidding, me being the benevolent demagogue of course. I made a lot of those spoof kinds of pages in those days, most sort of on the dark side, just to practice making sites and as a creative outlet (since I made them to look good) ... a LBJ/Nixon fanpage, one celebrating medieval Arab invaders and torture methods, some sites for philosophers I liked, etc.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Komag is a "name" version of KoMaG which is just an ackronym (sp?) for Keep of Metal and Gold, my first main Thief website.

But there is some Korean (or somewhere) company Komag that makes hard drives, and once or twice a year I get a stray email that was accidentally sent to komag.net (mine) instead of komag.com (thiers)

They have yet to sue me, but I wake up every morning dreading it

Many years ago, I used to like to make games for ZZT (first game ever made by Epic Megagames of Unreal fame) and later on Megazeux. I was planning to make a Zelda-ish game for Megazeux and give the main evil wizard a Tolkien-sounding name: Gil Doran. Later, when I became a volunteer programmer for The Two Towers, I changed my character's name to Gildoran. I've been using it ever since.

Ombrenuit was something I came up with when I was looking for a romantic, unique name that would reflect best in a Thief forum (ttlg). I liked it so much I've used it on every other forum I've visited from that day forward. It's "Shadow Night" in french, and has a nice ring to it.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
