Just wondering, is there a The Dark Mod irc channel? Someone was asking in #thief on starchat the other day, and I wondered myself. Im interested in making FM's for TDM and Im practising with normal doom 3 radiant atm.

Thanks.

It would be fun to create an irc chat channel, however i dont think there will be any besides one that is locked and members only because team members would be asked too many questions about the mod and progress of it ... you know questions like... when will it be finished.

Besides its got a progress meter / update page :D

Would think it fun to meet the makers of the mod though, gives it another point of view :D to the public

Well, I can see how that would be annoying. I wasnt thinking of it as being a "hay guys wherez the dark mod lol" kind of thing, more like for helping eachother with mapping/scripting etc. I guess I dont mean TDM so much as I mean TDM mapping or somthing. As I learn the editor I pick up a few tricks here and there, and Im sure pretty much everyone else knows more than I.

If anyones interested in somthing like that I'll create one on starchat (as Im in #thief etc already), or we could just use tdm's irc server. Its somthing that could probably just mimic the dromed channel except TDM isnt actually done.

Just a thought, I dont know of any other irc channels where I might go to ask radiant questions and the forum is somewhat slow.

The public forums are slow, sure - but the private ones are a buzz of activity, so there are people around. :)

Personally I don't use IRC. I know from experience that if I do enter a chatroom, my productivity immediately drops to zero and stays there. Same with instant messaging. It's a distraction which I can't afford.

Forums suck up a lot of my time too, but at least they don't interrupt!

My games | Public Service Announcement: TDM is not set in the Thief universe. The city in which it takes place is not the City from Thief. The player character is not called Garrett. Any person who contradicts these facts will be subjected to disapproving stares.

hahaha, indeed, it does suck up too much time :D I was an IRC junkie at one time, can't say I want back that time :D I would become a Darkmod IRC junkie... now that does sound scary ... the only one in the room etc ... I can just picture it :D or rather I don't want to :D

But exactly this information is wasted on IRC, because in a forum everybody can read it. On IRC only people logged on can read it, and a few minutes later it's gone.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
