Dark Mod... Beta Help...

I would love to help in the developement of this product. I have every thief 1/g/2 mission i have been able to find. I have even purchase the CD from Komag twice. Thief is awesome, how ever I feel Thief 3 was horrible, and do not classify it as Thief 3. The Dark Mod is my Thief 3. I would love to be one of the users to play with your beta in the beginning. I am not a professional modder, but I have always wanted to create my own levels. So I figured I would ask if I may attempt to create some simple levels with your mod during the beta stage. I figure I might as well ask, either way I anticipate your engine, and check your site at least once a week. Keep up a great job, you Taffers.

Hi, have you ever made anything FM wise?

 

Have you used Doom 3 Editor?

 

If not what you need to do, this is what I did to get in as a beta mapper, is make some maps with Doom 3 editor. You can get D3ed with Doom 3, which you'll need anyway for the Dark Mod.

 

If you make your own textures you can make something that looks really Thiefy even without TDM resources. Plus texture making is a good mapper skill anyhow.

 

Then you post images of your maps, and you'll be considered.

 

We can help answer questions and give feedback on what you do. I can give you some textures if you need them too.

 

It might take a while though, they are demanding and you have to learn a lot to get in!

To become a beta mapper, you'll need to illustrate some experience with creating D3 levels. Creating a full-blown level is not a prerequisite for becoming a beta-mapper, but you should be able to provide screenshots of good-looking areas you've made in D3 or other engines. Also, it doesn't matter whether or not the areas you make are medieval-themed; since you don't have any of TDM's assets, a beautifully constructed room in a mars base would also provide ample proof of mapping experience.

 

If you'd like to be a contributer or a team member, we're looking for people capable of programming, creating textures, models, animations or sound effects.

      I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

      I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
