I figured out how to apply a silencer (and also a scope), but its not so universal as they said it was :P. Evidently it just couldn't be applied to the pistol I was using.

Among neat things:

Unique weapons sometimes drop off of enemies. They are upgraded from regular ones and always bring a sort of satisfaction when you acquire one. I got an upgraded silenced mp5, and I think I'm liking it even more than my upgraded AK; it seems to be a lot more accurate, and with the option to fire three bullet bursts and the fact that its quiet, it's very effective. I also found an upgraded riot shot gun, but its a bit heavy. I'm sticking with carrying around my mp5 and my AK for now. I might not even need my silenced pistol; my mp5 just seems to do a better job. (Maybe because it saved me from a bloodsucker encounter too, its become my best friend)

Suggestions:

Don't accept quests WoW style; the timer runs out faster then you think, not too fast, but faster than I would like. If the time runs out, most often you can just go back to the quest giver and restart it, but this option isn't available if you end a quest before the time has run out, much to my chagrin.

Also, don't worry too much about side quests. I think the game does a much better job at balancing the main story line with side quests than Oblivion or Morrowind. With those games I tended to get lost in the side quests and never complete the main one, but in this, the main quest is still a focus, while side quests are nice excursions when convenient.

Don't rush it either guys, explore the plot thoroughly or like me you'll hit a false ending and end up restarting the game (it's good enough to play through twice anyway), wishing you'd taken the time to uncover the full extent of the storyline.

I may have run into a problem, and a bug:

In the X-18 lab, I can't get the keypad to work. I have the combination. I've checked faqs and strategy guides, but whenever I type it in: nothing. The door just won't open. I tried confirming the code by pressing enter or by hitting the green button. But nothing seems to be working. How did you get the door open?

Is x18 the first lab you go into? Under the factory? The code worked for me, was 1243 i think - i have an insane memory for letter and number sequences! :P

I just went to the store and bought stalker. The guy who approached me was my classmate from 5 years ago, Saad, training his successor. He's found a job in his home country and moving there in a few weeks. The Emirates. Helped me find the game, that newb put it in a $12 bin. First impressions: as I was walking home, on the back of the case I noticed two words written without a space: a typo. When I got home and opened the booklet to a random page I saw 1986 referred to as 10 years ago. Right now it's installing and I'm drinking tea with a raspberry pie, going to play in the evening, possibly, if I can get my work done by then. I noticed the tea I've been drinking, orange pekoe, is of rather poor quality, it's the one from grocery stores - lipton, tetley, etc. I'm now thinking of buying some FTGFOP grade online, from some good region in the mountains in asia, maybe that'll be good.

It requires 2GB of RAM?

ok, so I actually have 2GB, but still... that's really excessive.

My games | Public Service Announcement: TDM is not set in the Thief universe. The city in which it takes place is not the City from Thief. The player character is not called Garrett. Any person who contradicts these facts will be subjected to disapproving stares.

I guess the best thing to do is put it on the shelf for a few years. I have 512. I have no idea what the current brands and speeds are and have no desire to find out, but the $100 tag in a brick-and-mortar store around the corner sounds better than $60 online with unpredictable customs fees and shipping.

unplug your computer. put it on desk. open the side and use screw driver if needed. lay it on the desk horizontally. push the buttons on the side of the ram stick. it should say the ram speed and size. yours is probably DDR ram now just figure out what PC it is. it could be pc 2100 2700 3200 etc. That's just the ram speed. get the same kind and you are good to go.

UH! Well, I wanted to upgrade to 2GB anyway. Currently I have 1GB, but still. Well, that's a good excuse to upgrade NOW! :P

You've got it wrong. You don't need 2 gb of physical ram to run the game, that error dialog meant pagefile (= virtual memory).

I've no idea if it needs to be on that specific drive stalker is installed and if it is counted as ram + virtual memory > 2 gb, but that would be my guess. My pagefile size is 512 mb on drive E: (and over 2,5 gb if all drives are counted together) and I have 1,5 gb of ram. The game works fine.

Ah. That's good to know. I was quite surprised there for a moment. :)

Happy Labour Day, my taffing taffers & hard working mapping friends!
And remember the poor souls who, within the Inventors’ organization, labor under Jonus’s yoke to ensure the success of that very guild! Always remember the hard workers!

Is there a script command to make a screenshot?
I just though it could be interesting to be able to create a screenshot at a certain point in time. Then use that screenshot possibly in a debrief.
I guess the second question is: Can you use a (in-game made) screenshot in a (debrief) gui?
