Are these just the diffuse maps BT? They both look a little low-res compared to the light and pillar, but that might just be because they don't have a local. The top one looks quite good, but it's harder to make out the bottom one. I notice that there is some definite tiling though, in the part near the ceiling. If these DO have a heightmap already, then I think it needs to be bumped up more.

I already fixed that tiling problem. both textures do have a normalmap and actually the normals aren't that low. the first one needs maybe some more wooden-grain otherwise both are extremly high-res - 1024x512!

Maybe it's just the screenshots, BT. I like the top one, but it looks like the vertical bars are just painted on, rather than being recessed. Maybe that's how it's supposed to look?

I really like the design and the colours of the second one, but again, it looks like the edging in between the designs should stick up further. Maybe it's just that the light isn't hitting it or something.

Overall I think they're great additions to the mansion pack. :)

ATM I'm trying to improve my "textures totally from scratch" skills, so I continued making those T2 style textures - here's my work of the last 1 1/2 hours - a classic Thief 2 style ceiling. Hope you'll like it - critism welcome :)

I think it'll turn out pretty good ingame with a proper normalmap.

Looks good so far, but I think it could have a bit more coloring to the wood...

not sure what you mean with "coloring" - the wood grain is pretty good visible imho, isn't it?

.and maybe tone the color down to something a little more brown as well.

I made this yellow version, so that it fits to the other yellow-wood textures I made before ;)

That yellowy one - I don't like the details. It has areas of green next to very dark brown, that reminds me of an over-saturated image, or excesive use of "colour burn" or something.

The colours need to look more natural, is the only way I can put it at the moment.

Also, you're probably not finished, but there is a mis-alignment of pixels in the bottom left corner of the inner square that jumped out at me instantly and said "copy-paste!" or something like that. If that texture was in game, I would never stop seeing that thing. It would bug the hell out of me every time.

*edit* ah the dark brown ones are infinetely better :)

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
