I like my DarkRadiant Interface set up "Split", like Dromed's, so that I can see the side, front, and top at the same time as the 3D view (I just open up textures and other windows now and then).

FRAPS thinks all these ortho views are separate videos to record, but it can only do one video at a time. When I turn on recording, the frame rate gets horribly choppy (about 1 frame per second), and after turning off recording I find 191 separate videos in my FRAPS folder! each is about half a second and they alternate. The first video is the side view ortho, the next is the front view, the next is the top view, the next is the 3D window, then the cycle repeats ad infinitum.

I tried setting my Interface to "Floating" and only have the 3D view open, and that made it work normally, I got one video.

I don't know if there is anything that can be done about this, or if it really even matters at all to anyone but myself. I think I read in some other thread that the ortho views are working too hard and you guys are going to do something with the code to simplify them? Is this related?

If you want to record dark radiant action, try this or Camtasia or something. Note that I haven't used any of these programs so I'm not sure if they work any better but I've heard good things from Camtasia (it isn't freeware though).

Not much we can do about this. The splitplane view combines four OpenGL windows into one top-level window, that's why FRAPS has probably a hard time figuring out what to do. I think you might be better off with a program that captures the entire screen here - or use the floating type view as you already tried.

The possible performance improvements of the Orthoviews are moost probably not helping in this matter, I'm afraid.

edit: Yep, was beaten to it again.

There are plans to improve performance of the ortho windows, but that will make no difference to this problem. Since each window is a separate GL viewport, I don't imagine there is anything that can be done about this, except by changing the way Fraps records videos (if this is even technically possible).

Okay, now I understand it better at least. FRAPS works excellently in game mode, no problem get Dark Mod movies that way, very little hit to FPS (I can even record Oblivion movies just fine!), it was just while editing that I was interested in, in this case.

At least after switching to "Floating" and later back to "Split" it restored the correct size of my split layout, yay DarkRadiant!

Happy Labour Day, my taffing taffers & hard working mapping friends!
And remember the poor souls who, within the Inventors’ organization, labor under Jonus’s yoke to ensure the success of that very guild! Always remember the hard workers!

Is there a script command to make a screenshot?
I just though it could be interesting to be able to create a screenshot at a certain point in time. Then use that screenshot possibly in a debrief.
I guess the second question is: Can you use a (in-game made) screenshot in a (debrief) gui?
