shadow mesh in model doesn't work

Dmap seems to ignore a shadow mesh I added to my galleon model. It's definitely there, cause I can see it in DR. (black texture with SHADOW on it). But in game, when I turn the shadow silhouette on (r_showsilhouette 1) I can see shadow detail which shouldn't be there. (exactly same as visible mesh). And I think that fps is lower now than before instead of higher.

I used textures/common/shadow material for shadow mesh.

Did I forget about something?

I think all your materials are not NoShadows. I have seen this too where I have my shadow mesh model and shadows form the other parts of game model. Typically I've just copied that material and added noshadow to the copy, that way if the material gets used again in something else there is still a shadow vers.

For example, I used the peir_wood (not sure which one off top of head) for a door skin. If you add no shadows I'll need to make a material with shadows again.

I also use textures/common/shadow2, not sure if there's a diff.

OK, I thought it would ignore all other polygons, once shadow mesh is there (same as it does with collision mesh) but it looks that it adds shadow material to shadow mesh. That explains fps drop with new model. Thanks Baddcoq.

AFAIR it's noselfshadow as well.

Finally got my PC back from the shop after my SSD got corrupted a week ago and damaged my motherboard. Scary stuff, but thank goodness it happened right after two months of FM development instead of wiping all my work before I could release it. New SSD, repaired Motherboard and BIOS, and we're ready to start working on my second FM with some added version control in the cloud just to be safe!

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.
