Took some HIGH-RES (3840x2400) pics of the demo...

Yeah that's pretty cool. I assume you used your monitor's resolution for it? I think there is actually an internal function in D3 to take a screenie at a specified res, which would mean you could essentially take hi res shots of even 16000 pixels etc.

that's what I did,

BIND F11 screenshot 3840 2400

Then hit F11 in game and it will take the screeny at that res. I tried it and went all the way up to 10,000 x 8,000, but each pic was like 500MB

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

"thanks for the info, judgind by the screenshots, I really thought it was just some mod for thief 3. They really nailed the look. I just hope all the thief 3 levls will be done soon."

These are the sort of retards he hangs out with apparently.

The only issue with it is that is buggers up the compositing (it takes multiple shots at a low resolution and stitches them together) if there's some sort of visible heat haze/framebuffer distortion going on. It's a little unfortunate id never fixed that, really.

Nice shots, Haste.

Rage3D has always been an ATi fanboy-type hangout. And, yeah, mental deficiency is rampant there...just like everywhere else, I guess.

There are always a few diamonds in the rough, of course.

Actually, I remember that if you froze time (via g_stoptime 1) the heathaze effect and all anims etc froze also, thus, you could take an uber-hi-res shot and not screw up the compositing. Though I never tried this.

The problem arises when heat-haze tries to reference something offscreen... Since each section of the screenshot is rendered seperately, heat-haze in one screen can't reference an adjacent screen, resulting in discontinuities at the borders between screens.

Unfortunately, it's non-trivial to fix in general.

I circled it in red, the reflections in the stream are broken up by a line that runs straight up and down. It's not that noticeable, but it's still there.

This isn't a bid deal as you don't play like this, this is just for taking super high res screenshots. I was just posting this to illustrate what Gildoran was pointing out.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

OHHHhhhh... haha, yea I don't think that's to much of a big deal, it may have been a problem with syncing I dunno. Either way I've never noticed this before. *I had to lean around my lcd screen to see it :P *

You guys must have some very crappy monitors to not see that. :( Which would explain why nobody except a few people notice the horrible compression artifacts on some of the official screenshots.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
