Is ttlg down for everyone else? It went down last night it seems and there has been no annoucement in IRC and even the host of the temporary forums is down.

 

downforeveryoneorjustme.com doesn't even register the domain name :-/

I guess that reveals how often I open the TTLG website. :laugh: Mustn't have checked the site in days/weeks.

 

There's not much that is of interest for me there anymore, but that is partially due of the fact that I didn't play a fan mission for at least one or two years or so.

lol, I gather a lot of your commitment comes from just making the thing itself ...

 

 

ps, you really ought to play a few recent ones, though ... Broken Triad, 7 Sisters, and Mission X, if only because they've been so brilliant.

I'm an indie game developer, and I only just got around to playing Half-Life 2 in the last month or so. Almost four years since it came out. :laugh:

 

The only retail games I've played this year that I can remember have been Prey, Portal, and HL2.

 

...yeah.

My games | Public Service Announcement: TDM is not set in the Thief universe. The city in which it takes place is not the City from Thief. The player character is not called Garrett. Any person who contradicts these facts will be subjected to disapproving stares.

Actually, I'm not feeling I'm missing anything. I have warm memories about playing CL or Frobber's campaign, but it's much much more satisfying to create things for yourself. That's probably similar to DromEders not playing too much fan-missions themselves, only stronger. Coding or mapping on TDM is a terribly creative process and I like challenging my mind. Then again, there's times you ask yourself why you should waste your time on that thing at all, because it can be so frustrating. :laugh: Say it with Iron Maiden: there's a thin line between love and hate.

 

And I don't have much freetime these days either - choosing between playing an FM or working on TDM is a clean either-or decision.

 

That being said, I did play a co-op Empire Earth a few weeks ago and we played through Baldur's Gate II in spring. That's about it.

Yeah, I didn't think it was a coincidence.

It's too bad because it's such awful timing for it to be down.

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
