Komag Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 Last year I posted about my wife's possible pregnancy through IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), but now it has actually happened and been confirmed through an initial pregnancy a test and a follow up test as well. Woohoo!!! Conception date was Sept 11, a nice positive note I think (to me it's a day of courage and strength). This was an entirely immaculate conception. I can't have kids naturally, so they surgically extracted sperm and froze several small vials. My wife did another IVF cycle (lots of meds, tests, injections, minor surgery, etc) and finally these two embryos were implanted: They were the stronger 5 day embryos (as opposed to 3 day embryos we had to use the last two attempts because there weren't enough eggs fertilized), and the doctor thinks there is a very strong chance for twins (hard to say percentage, maybe 50/50). (If we do have twins I'll have to decide who to tell was the "ugly" embryo, hehe ) Quote
SneaksieDave Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 Congrats you two (or rather three... or possibly four!). Quote

OrbWeaver Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 (If we do have twins I'll have to decide who to tell was the "ugly" embryo, hehe ) Well the one on top is more developed (it has started to undergo blastulation, whereas the lower one is still at the morula stage), but of course this has no correlation to which of the twins is born first.
