Potion drink sound added to trunk

Recommended Posts

A few people asked for a potion drink sound to replace the placeholder D3 "soulcube energize" sounds that were being used for the health potion. Felt like procrasting, so I ducked over to freesound and found something nicer (which I shortened). I've committed it to the trunk, but I (deliberately) haven't committed it to the saintlucia branch since I'm not switched and don't want to rock any boats.

The initial swallow is just a gulp + gasp. I removed the "you are being healed now" sounds and just made that silent - I'm not sure what sound effect would even be appropriate for that. Neither was LGS I think, since they left it silent in Thief too. :)

In case someone wants to merge it in to the SL branch, it's revision 6729.

My games | Public Service Announcement: TDM is not set in the Thief universe. The city in which it takes place is not the City from Thief. The player character is not called Garrett. Any person who contradicts these facts will be subjected to disapproving stares.

A few weeks late, but here are some options:

drink01 (WAV)

drink02 (WAV)

drink03 (WAV)

I'll add a GASP sound for the breath potion soon....

Thanx a lot! :) Team, do we want them all, played randomly, or a specific one?

I like them. :)

We need to convert them to OGG files and add them to that sound shader as replacement for the one we have. The one has a very sharp "gulp" sound in it, saxmeisters are much more smooth, in my opinion.

Converted them to ogg, But where to add the files?

we have these spots:

sound/meta/game/food_apple_bite01.ogg

sound/sfx/tools/misc/potion_drink.ogg

sound/voices/player/

I think they should all be kept in one directory, but which one?

Put them under sound/sfx/tools, please.

Btw: I noticed you converted the stone_large_fall sounds to OGG. Please revert that change, because the sound shaders are using the shakes keyword, which doesn't support OGG files. They actually need to be WAV, according to iddevnet's recommendation.

Oops. Seems I have only stupid ideas lately :( Sorry, reverted.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
