EDIT: We've made it into the top 100, now's the time to continue your support, get on over there and vote for the mod again as the old votes won't count towards the top 100 list.

Go down to the Best Upcoming mods list, click on "Doom III" and click the vote button.

My games | Public Service Announcement: TDM is not set in the Thief universe. The city in which it takes place is not the City from Thief. The player character is not called Garrett. Any person who contradicts these facts will be subjected to disapproving stares.

Don't think we stand any chance against the hordes of HL2 fanboys, but heh, we can sneak in behind their back :D

 

Is there away to see how far we made it into the top 100?

 

Some numbers:

 

There were only 58,736 votes counted for the Top100. Thats on average only 587 votes per game (probably half because of "best of released" and "best of upcoming" are split among it).

 

A few dozend votes can really make a difference here :)

 

 

The current top item is "DAZE" (Doom3) and they have not made it into the top 100. :)

 

Maybe not eligible? But then, someone wrote they voted for it. Anyway, their rank is 79 of 8,611 and they have Visits 4,522 (292 today).

 

TDM has: Rank 117 of 8,611 Visits 32,689 (200 today).

I believe thats the moddb global ranking, as opposed to the top 100 moty contest.

 

When we release SL, our rank was like, 6th for a while. I think its a popularity rank.

Might have come from something like a readme in Saint Lucia, or the date of a post advertising it, or something like that.

It's an understandable mistake in that to most casual observers that haven't read anything about it, it's just another single Doom3 map, and they don't get that it's a toolkit ... esp given that there are already maps coming out now, so that's the only thing they see.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
